Panthers Host Double Midweek vs. Youngstown State and Ohio

PITTSBURGH – The Panthers will host both Youngstown State and Ohio this week at Charles L. Cost Field.
Tuesday's game against Youngstown State has been moved up to 1 PM in an effort to avoid impending inclement weather.
Pitt is coming off of a sweep of UNC Greensboro this past weekend.
Top of the Order
• The Panthers went 4-0 at home last week, scoring 53 runs in their four wins. 19 of those runs came via the long ball.
• Pitt has won four games in a row, and seven of their last eight.
• Leadoff man AJ Nessler is hitting .410 and slugging .641 with 25 total bases, 16 hits, 17 runs scored, eight RBIs and two home runs so far this season. He's recorded a hit in eight of Pitt's 10 games.
• Carter Dierdorf hit a grand slam and a three-run home run in Pitt's doubleheader on Saturday.
• Pitt left-handed pitcher Vincent Spizzoucco struck out eight and allowed just one run over six innings in Pitt's win over UNCG last Saturday. He's struck out 14 batters while surrendering just one run over his last
• Pitt has worked 87 walks over the first three weeks of the season, ranking them third in the ACC and sixth nationally.
• Pitt is one of four teams in the country to hit six home runs in a game this season.
• Pitt relievers LHP Mikey Gray and RHP Daniel McAuliff were named to the Stopper of the Year Preseason Watchlist
by the NCBWA. The award is given annually to the country's best relief pitcher.
• The Panthers welcomed 21 newcomers to campus for the 2026 season - among them are 16 transfers and five freshmen.
• Head Coach Mike Bell and the Panthers ushered in a new coaching staff in 2026, hiring Luke Bonfield, Sky Duff and Clay Martin
