Pitt Set to Battle in Blacksburg

PITTSBURGH – Pitt women's basketball continues ACC play Thursday evening with a road matchup against Virginia Tech at Cassell Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on ACCNX.

THE OPENING TIP

Pitt was defeated by No. 21 Duke Saturday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center, 95-41.
Mikayla Johnson led Pitt with 15 points and added five rebounds.
Fatima Diakhate had six points and a team-high six rebounds.
Theresa Hagans Jr. finished with eight points, two steals and an assist.

SERIES HISTORY

Thursday marks the 22^nd meeting between Pitt and Virginia Tech.
The Hokies lead the all-time series, 16-5, and have won the last nine contests.
The programs first met on Feb. 19, 1980, when Pitt earned a 76-54 victory.

SCOUTING THE HOKIES

Virginia Tech features a balanced offensive attack with three players averaging double-figures. Carys Baker leads the way with 14.8 points per game followed by Carleigh Wenzel at 13.4 points per game.
Kilah Freelon averages 10.0 points per game while anchoring the Hokies on the boards with 8.4 per contest. Freelon's average ranks eighth in the ACC.
Mackenzie Nelson tallies a team-best 114 assists on the season, for an average of 5.7 per game, which is second in the conference. Nelson leads the ACC with a 2.7 assist/turnover ratio.
