No. 21 Duke Defeats Pitt

PITTSBURGH – No. 21 Duke remained undefeated in ACC play, building an early double-digit lead and holding on for a 95-41 win over Pitt Saturday in the Petersen Events Center. The game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was moved up a day due to impending inclement weather in Western Pennsylvania.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pitt's defense forced Duke into five first quarter turnovers, but the Blue Devils took advantage of a 14-3 rebounding advantage, including six offensive boards, to take a 22-8 lead after 10 minutes. Duke (14-6, 9-0 ACC) continued to build the lead throughout the remainder of the game, eventually finishing with the 54-point win.
Mikayla Johnson led Pitt with 15 points and added five rebounds. Fatima Diakhate had six points and a team-high six rebounds, while Theresa Hagans finished with eight points, two steals and an assist.
Pitt was 9-of-10 at the free-throw line but the Panthers shot just 28 percent from the field and missed all 13 of its three-point attempts. Duke shot 55 percent from the field and made 7-of-17 three-pointers.

Pitt (8-14, 1-8 ACC) travels to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m.
