Hot Start Lifts No. 10 Louisville Past Pitt

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Pitt women's basketball team dropped an 86-46 decision at No. 10 Louisville on Sunday afternoon inside the KFC Yum! Center.
Theresa Hagans Jr. led the Panthers with 14 points and added two rebounds and two assists. Mikayla Johnson followed with 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting, while Carla Viegas chipped in nine points, knocking down three 3-pointers. Lauren Rust pulled down a team-high eight rebounds to go along with five points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisville opened the game on a 14-3 run and carried a 25-6 advantage after the first quarter. The Panthers found a rhythm offensively in the second period, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Hagans Jr., but the Cardinals maintained control and took a 44-21 lead into the break.
Pitt continued to battle in the third, with Johnson and Hagans Jr. combining for 10 points in the quarter, but Louisville's depth and pressure defense fueled another 25-point period to extend the margin. Pitt closed the game with 14 points in the fourth, capped by buckets from Jayda Queeley and Audrey Biggs.
GAME NOTES
- Pitt forced 14 turnovers and totaled nine steals on the defensive end.
- The Panthers held Louisville to 22.6% shooting from beyond the arc.
- The Cardinals also held a 44-14 advantage in points in the paint.
