PITTSBURGH – With the addition of Forever Panther Sky Duff, head coach Mike Bell has finalized his new coaching staff.
Bell has brought in three new faces to the staff for what will be his eighth year at the helm of the Pitt baseball program.
During the Mike Bell Era, the Panthers have seen one All-American, six All-Region selections and 11 All-ACC honorees while 16 players have been drafted or signed by MLB organizations. Pitt has amassed 161 wins, with 34 ranked wins, as well as five postseason wins in their five postseason appearances.
Aside from Bell, Devin Mesoraco is the longest tenured member of the staff. After playing eight years of Major League Baseball, he joined the Pitt staff in 2020 as a volunteer assistant and was promoted to assistant coach in 2023. Entering his sixth year on staff, Mesoraco will now serve as the program's General Manager and Director of Player Development.
Luke Bonfield joined the staff earlier in the summer as Pitt's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He spent the last five seasons at the University of Tennessee as their Director of Player Development and Director of Recruiting Operations. A graduate from Arkansas, Bonfield has won one national championship, been to five College World Series, won four SEC Titles and made seven Super Regional appearances as both a player and coach.
A Pittsburgh native, and Pitt fan growing up, Clay Martin enthusiastically joined the staff as an assistant coach and the Director of Pitching Development in late July. Martin spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Seton Hill where he was instrumental in the Griffins making three-consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearances and clinching a PSAC Championship in 2023. In that short time frame, Martin helped the Griffins accumulate 129 wins, including 18 postseason wins.
After a one-year stint at the University of Delaware, Sky Duff returned to the Pitt baseball program as the team's newest assistant coach. Duff spent the entirety of his five-year collegiate career at Pitt, setting numerous school records and earning multiple individual and team awards. After his playing career concluded, Duff served as Pitt's graduate manager for the 2024 season.
