Pitt Adds Recruited Walk-On Sofia Meer

PITTSBURGH – Central High School standout Sofia Meer will join the Pitt softball team as a recruited walk-on. Meer primarily played baseball throughout her high school career, helping the Lancers win three Public League Championships.
The middle infielder started most games at second base but also saw time at shortstop and catcher. The Philadelphia native joined the softball team in her senior year and earned First Team All-League honors. She also excelled on the hardwood as a two-time Second Team All-League selection for basketball.
Meer joins a talented group of 13 incoming freshmen who are expected to be key contributors to the 2026 squad.
