PITTSBURGH – Former Pitt standout and Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington capped off his inaugural professional season by being named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, as reported Tuesday afternoon by ESPN's Shams Charania.
Carrington, Pitt's third player to earn NBA All-Rookie Team honors, was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the No. 14 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and promptly traded to his hometown Washington Wizards. The Baltimore, Md., native became Pitt's seventh NBA Draft first round selection and the first draftee directly out of Pitt since 2014 (Lamar Patterson).
His rookie season did not disappoint as Carrington, despite entering the league at just 19 years old, was the only rookie in the NBA to play all 82 games. He finished the season with 43 double-figure scoring games, while averaging 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.
Carrington led all NBA rookies in games with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while also setting a Wizards franchise rookie record with 138 three-point field goals.
He also capped off the season with a buzzer beating floater in a 119-118 win over the Miami Heat on the final day of the regular season.

Carrington Also Receives Recognition for Work in the Community
Carrington was also recently named the recipient of the fourth annual Washington Wizards Dr. E.B. Henderson Team Award. The award, introduced during the 2021-22 season, recognizes a Wizards player for their exceptional contributions and work in the community. In honor of Carrington's achievement, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation (MSEF) will make a $10,000 donation to the charity of his choice.
"I'm truly honored to receive the Dr. E.B. Henderson Award, as it reflects the power of giving back and being connected to the communities where we play and live," said Carrington. "I know I am blessed to bless others, and when we pour into our communities, they pour back into us. This award represents the collective efforts of myself, my family, teammates, and the entire Wizards organization – all working together to uplift and support one another."
