Panthers Visit ETSU for Three-Game Set

PITTSBURGH - The Panthers end their eleven-day road trip with a weekend series at East Tennessee State.
It will be just the second time the two teams have met on the diamond in their histories. ETSU took the one and only meeting when they met in 2015.
Pitt is 8-3 to start their 2025 campaign and have won each of their first three series.
The Panthers are coming off an 8-1 victory in their midweek game at UNC Asheville on Tuesday.
Notes
• Left hander Ryan Reed struck out a career-high batters in just five innings of work in Pitt's series-clinching win at UNC Greensboro last Saturday afternoon. He earned his second-straight win in the best start of his career.
• Senior first baseman Luke Cantwell was the fifth-best first baseman in college baseball heading into the 2025 season by D1Baseball. Cantwell is hitting .350 with 14 hits, 10 RBI, 5 doubles and a triple. He is second in the ACC in walks with 15.
• LHP Ethan Firoved has been the Panthers' go-to high-leverage reliever this season, earning three saves in four appearances. He has a 0.68 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 13.1 innings. Firoved ranks second in the ACC in WHIP (0.60) and fifth in ERA (0.68).
• The Panthers' offense ranks 4th in the ACC in hit by pitches and 8th in the base on balls.
• Transfer outfielder Lorenzo Carrier has recorded a hit in nine of Pitt's 11 games so far this season. He is hitting .341 with 14 hits, 9 RBIs, 3 home runs and a .585 slugging percentage.
• Pitt's defense has turned 13 double plays through 11 games this season, they rank first in the ACC.
• Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman hit a walk-off home run on Opening Day to lift Pitt over Eastern Michigan. The Panthers erased a six-run deficit as Zuckerman hit the second walk-off home run of his young career.
• Pitt returns 14 lettermen from last season, including 3/4's of their starting infield in 1B Luke Cantwell, SS Jake Kendro and 3B Ryan Zuckerman.
• The Panthers added 22 newcomers to campus for the 2025 season. Among them are 16 transfers and 6 freshmen. Per 64Analytics, the Panthers landed a top- 20 transfer portal recruiting class.
• Last season, Pitt saw an uptick in offensive output in it's first year under the direction of Brandon Romans and Chris Collazo. The Panthers scored their most runs (382) and had their second-highest team batting average (.282) since 2013.
