Panthers Drop Series Finale to Georgia Tech

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team dropped a 9-0 decision to Georgia Tech in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Vartabedian Field.
The loss marked Pitt's (11-18, 1-8 ACC) second in as many days after winning the series-opener Friday evening.
As a unit, the Panthers were held to just one hit – tying the fewest in a game this season. Of note, Pitt's lone hit came on a Shelby Frazier single in the bottom of the third.
On the mound, senior pitcher Kendall Brown played 3.1 innings, allowing just three hits.
Georgia Tech (19-12, 7-5 ACC) came out strong, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first. The Yellow Jackets then extended their advantage with a grand slam in the second frame as they led 5-0 through two complete innings.
The Panthers continued to battle but were unable to get their offense going, trailing 6-0 heading into the sixth. The Yellow Jackets then blasted two home runs, scoring three insurance runs to take a 9-0 lead.
Pitt was unable to notch a run in the bottom of the sixth and ultimately fell, 9-0.

The Panthers travel for a road midweek at Marshall on Tuesday, March 25. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
