PITTSBURGH, PA – The Panthers will look to get back to winning ways Tuesday at Highmark Stadium, as Pitt welcomes the Niagara Purple Eagles to Station Square. The game is set for a 3 PM start time.
This is the second time Pitt and Niagara have met on the lacrosse field, with the first matchup taking place in the inaugural season for the Panthers in 2022. Pitt defeated the Purple Eagles 15-7 on March 21, 2022. Then freshman Sydney Naylor scored two goals in the contest and will look to do the same Monday afternoon.
The Panthers dropped a close game to No. 8 Stanford last time out in California. Naylor, Kaitlyn Giandonato and Kayli Carannante each netted hat tricks in the defeat. With the three goals, Naylor reached the 100+ point plateau, the first Pitt Panther to do so. Molly Cain made 12 saves in the goal, a career best, to slow down the Stanford attack.
Niagara enters the contest 1-4 so far in 2025. Against common oppoents, the Purple Eagles are 1-1. They fell to Arizona State (15-9) and beat St. Bonaventure (6-5). Maddy Gill paces the attack, with 13 goals and one assist. Haley Terry has made 51 saves good for a .402 save percentage in command of the defense.
Monday's non-conference game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra here and live stats can be tracked here and is Pitt's annual Pride Game. The Panthers will remain in Pittsburgh to play three additional home games following Niagara. Next up will be an ACC battle against Cal on March 8th.
