
Panthers Travel For Rematch Against SMU

PITTSBURGH – Coming off its second ACC win of the season, the Pitt women's basketball team will travel to face SMU on Sunday evening at Moody Coliseum in Dallas.

Graduate center Khadija Faye is now just 9 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark for her career. Faye has been one of the best bigs in the ACC this season, averaging 17.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.
The Rematch
In the last meeting between Pitt and SMU, the Panthers completed the largest regulation comeback victory in NCAA women's basketball history in a 72-59 win. The Panthers, who trailed by 32 points with 1:37 remaining in the first half, outscored SMU 54-10 in the second half, including a 28-0 third period.
Historic First Quarter Against Boston College
Pitt had its best scoring quarter in program history in the opening period against Boston College, recording 33 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field.
Additionally, the Panthers shot 3-for-3 from 3-point range and went 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. Defensively, Pitt limited Boston College to just 10 points in the first quarter, while allowing only one made field goal.
Starters Lead the Way
All five Pitt starters scored in double-figures for the first time this season in the win over Boston College. Of note, Pitt's starters (Miles, Washenitz, Johnson, Elmore and Faye) combined to score 75 of the Panthers' 79 points.

- SMU has compiled a 10-14 record this season, including a 2-10 mark in ACC play.

- The Mustangs are led by star guard Nya Robertson, who averages 19.3 points per game.
- Of note, Robertson logged 23 points in the last meeting between Pitt and SMU.
- Down low, center Jessica Peterson is the catalyst for the Mustangs as she averages 12.3 rebounds per game.
Last Time Out - vs. Boston College
Pitt defeated Boston College, 79-66, on Thursday night in the Petersen Events Center.
The Panthers raced out to a 7-2 lead after hitting their first three shots of the game. Pitt's chaos-inducing defense forced five Golden Eagle turnovers and a 3:39 Boston College scoring drought. Miles turned Pitt's defense to offense, scoring six points off of turnovers en route to a 18-2 Panthers run.
Pitt led 33-10 after the first quarter, with five different players scoring at least three points in the frame. The Panthers only allowed one Boston College made field goal through the first 10 minutes of the contest.
The Panthers stayed red hot on offense, netting two 3-pointers to open the second quarter. Faye, Elmore and Johnson all eclipsed 10 points in the first half and combined to shoot 76 percent (13-for-17) from the field. Pitt led 50-28 at halftime, scoring 24 points in the paint and 15 points off of turnovers.
Pitt struggled to extend its lead in the third after missing 12 consecutive shots. The Panthers were outscored 19-11 in the third frame. Pitt held Boston College to just 17 points in the fourth quarter on 31 percent (5-for-16) shooting. Miles netted six of her eight free throw attempts in the final minutes to cement Pitt's second ACC win of the season.
