PITTSBURGH – Pitt Women's Lacrosse will open their home schedule at Highmark Stadium Wednesday when they welcome the Arizona State Sun Devils to Station Square. Opening draw is set for 1 PM for the non-conference clash.
The Sun Devils make the trip to Pittsburgh after the Panthers traveled to Tempe in 2024. Last year's game saw ASU prevail 18-11 at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium. Jenna Hendrickson, Sydney Naylor and Paige Telatovich each scored two goals to lead Pitt offensively, but the Panthers were unable to match the offensive output by the Sun Devils.
Pitt is coming off of a 13-12 win over St. Bonaventure to begin 2025 play, a game that required an overtime winner from the eight meter by senior Talia Zuco. Naylor matched a career high with five goals, while Hendrickson and Emily Coughlin netted two a piece. Junior goalie Molly Cain bounced back from a difficult first half to finish the game with 11 saves, including several big stops down the stretch to keep the Panthers neck and neck with the Bonnies.
Arizona State defeated Niagara on the road to open their 2025 campaign. They held a slim 5-3 lead at halftime before exploding in the third period to get out to an eight-goal advantage heading to the fourth. Jordyn Behar had an eight-point game (2G, 6A) and Lydia Oldknow registered six points of her own (3G, 3A) to pace the Sun Devil attack. Three ASU goalies saw action, with Katie Vahle spending the majority of the game in the net and making 13 saves. Arizona State finished 2024 with a 9-10 record, and Oldknow is their leading point scorer returning from last year's roster. The junior scored 48 goals and added 19 assists, good for second on the team with 67 points in 2024.
Wednesday's game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra here or live stats can be tracked here. Pitt will stay in Pittsburgh following the home opener and will host Penn State Tuesday, February 18 at Highmark Stadium. Admission to all Panther home games is free for all fans.
