Pitt Drops First Game of Florida Gulf Classic to Ball State, 55-41

NAPLES, Fla. - Pitt fell to Ball State, 55-41, on Friday in its opening game of the Florida Gulf Classic.
Amiya Jenkins led the Panthers with a season-high 11 points and four rebounds, while Lauren Rust matched her career high with 13 rebounds, marking her third double-digit rebounding effort of the year. Audrey Biggs added her first points of the season with a third-quarter three and Carla Viegas returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games to knock down a pair of threes for six points.
How It Happened
Pitt started strong with 15 first-quarter points, fueled by two early baskets from Jenkins. A cold second quarter allowed Ball State to pull ahead by double digits at the break. Jenkins sparked a third-quarter push with seven points as the Panthers cut the deficit to single digits, but Pitt couldn't sustain the momentum in the fourth, struggling to convert down the stretch.
