No. 4 Pitt Seeks Fourth Straight ACC Championship with Win over Georgia Tech

PITTSBURGH – The No. 4 Pitt volleyball team (25-4, 17-2 ACC) heads to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech (16-12, 11-8 ACC) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for a chance to clinch at least a share of the ACC Championship. The match can be streamed on ACCNX.
Pitt leads the all-time series 18-2 against the Yellow Jackets and has won eight straight matches. The Panthers are undefeated in Atlanta, going 8-0 dating back to 2014. Pitt clinched the outright ACC Championship against the Yellow Jackets last season at the Fitzgerald Field House behind Olivia Babcock's triple-double of 18 kills, 12 digs and 10 blocks. Earlier this season, the Panthers defeated Georgia Tech in four sets, powered by 41 combined kills from Babcock and Blaire Bayless.
RUFFLED THEIR FEATHERS
• The Panthers swept Louisville in the Petersen Events Center on Wednesday night behind a match-high 22 kills from Olivia Babcock.
• This marks Pitt's first sweep over Louisville since 2020 and is the only match the Cardinals have lost in straight sets this season.
• Brooke Mosher notched 30 assists, a season-high five kills and three digs.
• Blaire Bayless recorded a career-high 11 digs.
PRO PANTHERS!
• Bre Kelley and Brooke Mosher were chosen in the MLV Draft on Monday afternoon.
• Kelley was drafted number six overall in the first round by the reigning champion Orlando Valkyries, and Brooke Mosher went in the second round as the 15th pick by the Omaha Supernovas.
• Kelley will be joining Pitt libero great Emmy Klika in Orlando.
A NATIONAL PHENOM
• Olivia Babcock made an appearance on SportsCenter with Christine Williamson on Tuesday, breaking down her record-breaking season and the team's success.
• In addition, Babcock was highlighted on NFL Countdown heading into the match against Louisville on Oct. 19.
FIELD HOUSE FINALE
• The Panthers played their final match in the Fitzgerald Field House last Sunday.
• Pitt defeated Boston College in three sets, and Olivia Babcock recorded a match-high 13 kills while Brooke Mosher added 36 assists.
• The Panthers haven't lost at home since Sept. 14, 2023, when they fell to Oregon in five sets.
SQUEEZED THE ORANGE
• Pitt swept Syracuse on Friday night in dominant fashion at the Field House as the Panthers hit a season-high .486.
• Nine Panthers recorded at least one kill, including Mallorie Meyer who notched the first kill of her career as a libero.
SENIOR CELEBRATIONS
• Bre Kelley, Brooke Mosher and Emery Dupes were celebrated on Sunday for Senior Day.
• Kelley is a two-time ACC Champion and Final Four participant along with being a 2025 captain. Mosher and Dupes are finishing their volleyball careers as Panthers after successful campaigns at Illinois and Florida State, respectively.
MOSHER MAGIC
• Brooke Mosher recorded her 3,000th career assist against Cal.
• The redshirt senior is currently averaging a personal best 9.79 assists per set and pacing Pitt to a .309 hitting percentage, good for sixth in the nation.
• She has registered seven double-doubles this season and has a team-high 38 aces.
SUPER SOPH!
• Sophia Gregoire had a career day against Cal on Sunday, recording personal bests in points (23), kills (20), hitting percentage (.690) and aces (2).
• She came off the bench and had a nearly perfect match with 20 kills and zero errors on 29 swings.
NPOTY SEMIFINALIST
• Olivia Babcock has been named one of 14 AVCA National Player of the Year Semifinalists.
• Four finalists will be chosen on Dec. 15, and the National Player of the Year announcement will go out on Dec. 19 at the AVCA Awards Banquet.
• With the victory, Babcock would become just the fifth player to repeat as the winner.
BREAK OUT THE BROOMS!
• The Panthers earned two sweeps over Virginia Tech and Virginia.
• All 15 active players saw playing time between both Friday and Sunday.
• Haiti Tautua'a recorded a career-high 31 assists and four blocks against the Cavaliers.
HISTORIC. AGAIN.
• Olivia Babcock broke her own program record with 45 kills against North Carolina.
• That kill total is the most in NCAA Division I volleyball since Cincinnati's Jordan Thompson had 50 against UConn on Nov. 3, 2019.
• Babcock has recorded at least 25 kills seven times this season and has three 30+ kills to her name in 2025 and four in her career.
• Her previous record was 41 kills set against rival Louisville on Oct. 19.
