PITTSBURGH – The No. 4 Pitt volleyball team (25-4, 17-2 ACC) closed out its regular-season home slate with a sweep of No. 7 Louisville (24-5, 16-3 ACC), winning 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 on Wednesday night at the Petersen Events Center. This marks the first sweep over the Cardinals since 2020. Olivia Babcock led all players with 22 kills on a .404 hitting percentage, while Brooke Mosher paced the offense with 30 assists, a season-high five kills, and three digs.
The opening set stayed within two points until the media timeout, where Louisville held a 15-14 edge. The Cardinals added two more out of the break, prompting a Pitt timeout, and later reached a 23-21 advantage. Haiti Tautua'a responded with a dominant 6–0 service run, including two of her three aces, to help Pitt rally and take the set.
The back-and-forth continued in set two. A kill from both Babcock and Sophia Gregoire gave Pitt a 15-12 lead at the media break, but a 4-1 Louisville run forced a Panthers timeout. Despite trailing 22-20, Pitt capitalized on a Cardinal error and an ace from Babcock to tie the frame, triggering a pair of Louisville timeouts. Late kills from Mosher and Babcock sealed the 25-22 set two win.
Like set one, Louisville once again held a 15-14 lead at the media timeout, but Pitt surged ahead 20-19, prompting a Cardinals timeout. Two Louisville errors and another Babcock kill forced their final stoppage. Mallorie Meyer's strong serve and Babcock's 22nd kill of the night secured the 25-22 victory and the 3-0 sweep.
Pitt wraps up the regular season on Saturday in Atlanta, taking on Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. on ACCNX.
