THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt and Bucknell meet Monday night inside the Petersen Events Center at 7 p.m. At 3-1 on the season, Pitt looks to rebound from its first loss of the year, while Bucknell enters the game with a record of 2-2.
- The game will be broadcast on ACCNX with Jeff Hathhorn and Nick Rivers calling the action.
- The game will also be broadcast on the Pitt Radio Network (flagship 93.7 The Fan) with Bill Hillgrove (play-by-play) and Curtis Aiken (analysis) on the broadcast.
- Pitt leads the all-time series with Bucknell 18-9 -- a series that goes back more than 100 years. The programs first met in 1908. Although the two teams have played 27 times, they've faced off just twice since 1980. In the only meeting inside the Petersen Events Center, Bucknell pulled off a 69-66 win in 2005.
- Pitt began the 2004-05 season by winning 10 straight games before the calendar turned to January. But on Jan. 2, Bucknell stopped No. 10 Pitt's run with the 69-66 defeat. The Panthers still went on to the NCAA Tournament that season, for the fourth straight year, as a No. 9 seed.
- The Panthers began the 2025-26 season by winning two home exhibition games and then three straight home regular season contests. Pitt went on the road for the first time Thursday, dropping a 71-49 decision against West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl.
- With a win, Pitt would start 4-1 or better for the third consecutive season.
