PITTSBURGH – Head women's soccer coach Ben Waldrum is excited to announce the signing of seven student-athletes to the 2030 class.
"We are thrilled about our 2026 recruiting class and have been looking forward to welcoming this elite group of players to campus," Waldrum says. "In my seven years with the program, I believe this class has the potential to be the most talented and impactful we've ever had. Each player brings unique qualities, competitive character, and the skill set needed to thrive in the ACC. Four of our seven signees will be enrolling early this spring, and our staff is eager to begin working with this special group."
Maci Tew | Columbus, OH | Ohio Premier
Waldrum on Tew:
"Maci comes to us from one of the top clubs in the region, Ohio Premier. What stands out about Maci is her relentless competitive drive paired with exceptional composure and quality on the ball. She has outstanding vision, creates goal-scoring opportunities, and brings others into the game with ease. Maci is dynamic, entertaining to watch, and will be an exciting addition to our attack and overall program."
Laila Vloet | Toronto, ON | Rush Canada
Waldrum on Vloet:
"Laila is an exceptional technician on the ball, with a refined elegance in her game marked by control, grace, and an incredible work rate. When you combine her mobility, competitiveness, and technical ability, she truly embodies the definition of a link-up player in midfield. Laila will elevate our team's ability to maintain possession and perfectly complements the style of play we value here at Pitt. She's a tremendous addition to our program and another high-quality player from the Toronto, Ontario area."
Savannah Johnson | Dallas, Texas | Solar SC
Waldrum on Johnson:
"Savannah joins us from one of the premier youth clubs in the country, Solar SC. A deep-lying playmaker from Dallas, she possesses elite composure, technical quality, and vision. Savannah's competitive drive is exceptional, and she has experienced success at every stage of her youth career. She will bring not only a high level of quality on the field but also a winning mentality and professional approach that will elevate our program."
Weslee Istone-Haupt | Suwanee, Ga. | Atlanta Fire United
Waldrum on Istone-Haupt:
"Weslee is a versatile, highly athletic player with the 1v1 ability that we value so much in our program. She is technically gifted, composed on the ball, and has the intelligence to solve pressure in tight spaces. As her club team's captain, Weslee displays leadership qualities that are rare to find at this level. She will be an exciting and entertaining player to watch for years to come here at Ambrose. As an early enrollee, our staff is eager to begin working with her this spring."
Talyn Guthrie | Edwardsville, IL | Eclipse
Waldrum on Guthrie:
"The best way to describe Talyn as a player is simple—she scores goals and creates them for her teammates. In my opinion, she is one of the top forwards in the country in this 2026 recruiting class. Talyn is powerful, composed on the ball, and possesses top-end pace that makes her a constant threat around the goal. She's an excellent addition to our team and an exciting player who will make a major impact in our program for years to come."
Elli Johnson | Fort Collins, CO | Real Colorado
Waldrum on Johnson:
"Elli joins us from one of the top clubs in the country, Real Colorado, where she helped lead her team to a youth national championship and represented the United States with the U17 National Team. Elli brings a commanding presence in goal, with outstanding distribution that allows us to build effectively from the back. We believe she is one of the top shot-stoppers in the country, and can make an immediate impact within our program."
Eden Jones | Pleasant Grove, UT | Utah Celtic
Waldrum on Jones:
"Eden joins us from Utah Celtic GA, a talented, possession-oriented team. She brings a calmness and strong presence to the back line with all the attributes you want to see in a top center back. Eden is excellent in the air, competitive in 1v1 situations, and displays impressive soccer IQ. What stands out most is her ability to solve pressure—whether it's picking out a precise pass or carrying the ball into midfield to help her team build and advance play. She's an ideal fit for our playing style and an exciting early enrollee that we can't wait to begin working with this spring."
