The Pitt Panthers begin the 2025-26 campaign with a dual meet at Navy (Nov. 1) before competing the following day at the Navy Classic (Nov. 2). The Navy dual will be streamed on the Navy Athletics YouTube channel and live results from the Navy Classic will be available on FloWrestling.
Pitt and Navy will meet in dual action for just the third time since 1997. The Panthers have won two of the last three matchups but still trail the all-time series 27-13-2. Pitt earned a dominant 35-3 victory over the Midshipmen in last year's season opener.
Head Coach Keith Gavin is 8-0 in season-opening dual meets since taking over the program in 2017-18, including a 2-0 mark against Navy in such matchups.
The Panthers boast five wrestlers ranked in the Top 25 of the InterMat Rankings: No. 5 Mac Stout (197), No. 7 Dayton Pitzer (285), No. 15 Luca Augustine (174), No. 17 Kade Brown (149) and No. 21 Dylan Evans (157).
No. 15 Luca Augustine has won the last two meetings and owns a 2-1 all-time record over No. 5 Danny Wask. His lone loss came at the 2022 Midlands Championships. All three bouts have been decided by two points or fewer. (2022-23: L, 7-6; 2023-24: W, 9-7; 2024-25: W, 4-3)
Pitt is ranked at No. 21 in the NWCA Preseason Team Rankings and features six Panthers ranked in the individual rankings, including four in the Top 20.
The Panthers return two of their three 2025 ACC Champions — All-American Mac Stout (197) and Dayton Pitzer (285) — and bring back six of eight NCAA Qualifiers from last season.
