PITTSBURGH – Coming off a 34-31 road upset over ranked Florida State, Pitt hits the road again to take on Syracuse on its home turf for the first time since 2021.
Pitt and Syracuse have played every year since 1955, when both schools were independents. The Panthers and Orange were Big East football conference members from 1993-2012 before entering the ACC in 2013.

GAME STORYLINES
- Pitt has won 19 of the past 23 games against Syracuse, including last year's 41-13 trouncing of the Orange in Pittsburgh.
- In his second start, true freshman Mason Heintschel went 21-of-29 for 321 yards and two TDs, adding 64 rushing yards with a 30-yard burst. He's topped 320 passing yards in both starts (73% completions, six TDs total) and last week led the ACC in passing yards, yards per attempt (11.07) and total offense (385)—one of just three FBS players with 320+ pass and 60+ rush.
- In his return, Desmond Reid stacked 200 scrimmage yards (155 receiving, 45 rushing) and two TD grabs (16, 24), tying career highs. He led the ACC in receptions and receiving yards, ranked second in receiving TDs, led all FBS running backs in catches/receiving yards/receiving TDs, and was the nation's only player with 45+ rush and 155+ receiving yards last week.
- True freshman Ja'Kyrian Turner notched his first multi-TD game with 10 carries for 44 yards and scores of three and 10 yards, including the late clincher at No. 25 Florida State; he added four catches for 34 yards (78 all-purpose). He led ACC freshmen in rushing TDs, ranked top-three in scrimmage metrics, and his two rushing scores were the most by any ACC running back last week.
- Linebacker Kyle Louis was everywhere in the upset at Florida State, posting 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. His 11 tackles were the third-most in the ACC last week and led all league linebackers, and he was the only ACC linebacker to produce at least 11 tackles and 1.5 TFL in a single game.
