PITTSBURGH - The Pitt swimming & diving team hosts West Virginia and George Washington in a tri-meet at Trees Pool this weekend.

The Panthers return to Trees Pool for their second home meet of the season and first meet of the new year. In their last home meet, Pitt set six Trees Pool records as the women earned a victory over Georgia Tech.

In Pitt's most recent competition, the Panthers set six school records at the Texas Invitational in late November. On their first day in Austin, the women's 200 medley relay team would hit A-Cut and qualify for NCAAs. Pitt's relay team of Claire Jansen, Cecilia Viberg, Sophie Yendell and Avery Kudlac swam a school record 1:35.82 as they became Pitt's first women's relay team to qualify for NCAAs in 19 years.

PITT STUDENT-ATHLETES TO WATCH FOR

Mariana Osorio Mendoza: ACC Women's Co-Diver of the Week (10/29). Earned double win at Penn State earlier this year. Took home a bronze medal on Platform at the Junior World Championships in Brazil in December.
Noah Bernard: Has been named ACC Men's Diver of the Week twice this year (10/29, 11/5). As a freshman, he has earned three wins already this season.
Cam Cash: Reigning ACC Men's Diver of the Year. 2024 ACC Champion (3M and Platform). Earned All-America and All-ACC honors while qualifying for NCAA's in all three diving events.
Claire Jansen: Holds school records in the 50 Back and 100 Back. Olympic Trial Qualifier. Earned four first place finishes in last home meet vs. Georgia Tech. Holds four relay school records.
Sophie Yendell: Holds three individual school records and four relay records. 2023 British National Champion (50M Fly). Last year, had Pitt's the highest female individual finish at NCAAs since 2017.
Avery Kudlac: Holds four relay school records. Helped set two pool records in last home meet.
Kimmy Shannon: Set the school record in the women's 400 IM at the Texas Invitational.
Michal Piela: Recently won one gold (200 IM) and two bronze medals (400 IM & 400 Medley Relay) at Polish Nationals.
Max Matteazzi: 2024 ACC Silver Medalist (400 IM). 2024 NCAA Championship Qualifier. Set the school record in the Men's 500 Free.
Marcin Goraj: Holds two individual school records and four relay records. Won bronze at 2023 and 2024 Polish Nationals. Won the 200 Back at Penn State.
