NITTANY LION CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS
Two school records were broken and Pitt collected eight event wins at the Nittany Lion Challenge on January 18.
- Je'Nyia Burton broke the women's 300-meter dash school record, previously set by Jonique Lawrence in 2012. Burton's time of 37.66 solidified herself in the record books and collected the win.
- Devin Nugent smashed the men's 600-meter school record, held by Dante Watson since 2018. Nugent recorded a time of 1:17.78 to win the event and claim the record.
- Norrah Lemongo won two events, set two personal bests, and moved up in the all-time top-ten rankings in both the women's shot put and the women's weight throw. Lemongo recorded a mark of 16.02-meters in the shot put, the second best in program history. In the weight throw, Lemongo launched a 20.42-meter toss, for the fourth best mark in Pitt history.
- Malik Ricketts earned the win in the men's 400-meter race. His time of 47.10 is a new personal best as he climbed from eighth to sixth on the all-time top-ten list.
- High jumper Eva Baldursdottir leaped to first place in the women's high jump with the third highest mark in program history, 1.80-meters, a new personal best.
- The men's and women's 4x400 relay teams ended the meet in exciting fashion, with two first place finishes and top ten program times. The men's group of Malik Ricketts, Nigel Hussey, Darren McQueen Jr., and Devin Nugent produced a 3:08.03 effort, the fourth fastest at Pitt. The women's quartet of Caleia Johnson, Logan Neely, Somiyah Braggs and Je'Nyia Burton closed the gap in the anchor leg to come from behind and win with a time of 3:39.63, the sixth best time in program history.
