
Copperwheat Grabs Beam and Floor Titles; Cesarone Wins Vault in Clemson Dual Meet

PITTSBURGH – Senior Hallie Copperwheat took first in the balance beam and floor exercise in the Panthers ACC opener against Clemson Friday evening at Fitzgerald Field House. Newcomer Elizabeth Cesarone also grabbed a share of the vault title as Pitt fell to Clemson by a narrow margin (195.500-195.100).
The Panthers finished the night with a strong showing on floor exercise outpacing Clemson 48.725-48.700. Pitt, ranked 19th in the Road to Nationals standings, moves to 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the ACC.
Copperwheat has now won 20 event titles during her career at Pitt.
Vault
Cesarone posted a team-high 9.825, while Jaime Pratt and Kennedy Duke added 9.800s to power the Panthers to 48.875 in the vault for the second consecutive meet. Cesarone shared the individual title for the second consecutive meet, while Pratt and Duke were tied for fifth just .025 points off the top spot.
Bars
Jal'yah Bedminster, Camryn Chiu and Copperwheat each posted 9.750s on the uneven bars to tie for third. Jordyn Ewing also posted a 9.775 in an exhibition routine.
Beam
Copperwheat delivered an impressive performance on the beam with a 9.875 as Pitt posted a season-best 48.800. Freshman Darbi Simcox made her Pitt debut with a 9.775 to finish fifth, while Duke continued her strong night with a 9.750 to place tied for sixth. Emily Todd also posted a 9.750 for the Panthers.
Floor
Copperwheat posted a 9.800 on her floor routine, while Jordyn Ewing and Bedminster tied for third with matching 9.750s. Copperwheat has now won floor titles three times in her career.
