
Lee Earns ACC Newcomer of the Week Honors

PITTSBURGH – Freshman Meika Lee was named ACC Newcomer of the Week Tuesday afternoon following a strong showing last Saturday in her Pitt debut at the Next Level Podium Challenge. The Palmer, Alaska, native finished second in the all-around with a total of 38.400 to reach the podium in her first collegiate meet.
Lee posted a 9.750 on the balance beam to tie for fourth in her top scoring event of the night. She also finished tied for sixth in the vault (9.725) and tied for eighth in floor exercise (9.725).
Pitt opened the season with wins over Illinois State, George Washington, and Western Michigan as the Panthers took home three individual titles and had 10 podium finishes at the Next Level Podium Challenge.
Cal's eMjae Frazier was named ACC Gymnast of the Week, while Chloe Negrete of NC State took home ACC Specialist of the Week accolades.
Lee is the second Pitt gymnast to earn ACC Newcomer of the Week honors, joining Emily Todd who took home the award Jan. 9, 2024.

Pitt, ranked 19th in the latest Road to Nationals poll, returns to action Friday, Jan. 17 with its home and ACC opener against No. 25 Clemson at Fitzgerald Field House (7 p.m. – ACC Network Extra).
