
Pitt Hosts No. 8 Florida State in Final Home ACC Series

PITTSBURGH - The Panthers host the No. 8 ranked Florida Seminoles in their final home ACC series of the season. Pitt will be honoring their seniors prior to Saturday's game.
TOP OF THE ORDER
• The Panthers scored 45 combined runs over their two midweek games this week. It was the second-most runs in a two-game span in pro- gram history and their most since 1953.
• Senior C.J. Funk hit three home runs and drove in nine runs over the first two innings against Wright State on Wednesday. Funk hit a three- run shot and grand slam in the first inning.
• Dom Popa is having the best year of his career, batting .333 with 58 hits and 43 runs scored. He leads the team in hits (58), runs scored (43) and stolen bases (6), is second in average (.333), and on base percentage (.445) and third in doubles (9).
• First baseman Luke Cantwell is currently second in the ACC in on base percentage (.515), walks (47) and walks/game (1.02). He has reached base safely in 42-consecutive games, one shy of Sky Duff's record of 43 - consecutive games in 2022.
• Matt Fernandez came out of the bullpen in the second inning of Sunday's game at Notre Dame and threw six shutout innings in relief. The right-hander allowed just one hit and one walk while tying his Pitt career-high for strikeouts in a game with eight.
• Phil Fox has emerged as Pitt's go-to late-inning arm out of the bullpen. He has appeared in 19 games and has given up just four runs. Fox is 3-2 with six saves and a 1.19 ERA.
• Ryan Andrade gave Pitt arguably the best start of his career on Friday at Notre Dame. He finished with a final line of: 7.1 IP, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 H, 7 Ks.
