
Pitt Heads to Kent State for Tuesday Matchup

PITTSBURGH - The Panthers travel to Kent, OH to play Kent State for the second and final time this season. Pitt topped Kent State earlier this season in a late-inning comeback win on a bitter night at Charles L. Cost Field.
Jayden Melendez and the Panthers walked off Georgia Tech on Saturday but lost the series this past weekend. The Panthers will look to get back on track and sweep the season series with Kent State on Tuesday.

• First baseman Luke Cantwell had two consecutive four-walk games against Georgia Tech last weekend. Cantwell currently ranks:
• Second in the ACC and eighth in the country and walks (35).
• Third in the ACC and fourth in the country in Walks Per Game (1.25).
• Third in the ACC in On Base Percentage (.511)
FLAMIN' PHIL FOX
• Phil Fox has emerged as Pitt's go-to late-inning arm out of the bullpen. He has appeared in 12 games and has given up just two runs. Fox is 2-1 with two saves.
• He has a sub-one ERA (0.86) in his 21 innings pitched and has struck out 26 batters so far this season.
• Fox has had 10 scoreless outings this year, including six straight. He has also recorded six outings where he has not even surrendered a hit.
TOUGH TO STRIKEOUT
• In his 91 at-bats this year, Justin Fogel has only struck out eight times. He ranks within the top five in the ACC and is top-40 in the country in strikeout average.
• Fogel's strikeout average (11.4) is the third best in the entire ACC.
WALK OFF WINNER
• Jayden Melendez and the Panthers walked off Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon.
• Melendez's first career walk off was a double to right field that scored the speedy Austyn Winkleblech from second.
