Panthers Drop Hard-Fought Series Finale to Boston College, 3-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Panthers won the series against Boston College despite dropping the series finale, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Villages after the game was postponed Saturday night due to rain.

Cami Compson hit a two-run home run in the top of the first and the Eagles matched with a two-run home run of their own to tie the game 2-2 before the rain delay Saturday night.

The series finale resumed play early Sunday afternoon with two outs in the bottom of the second inning with the score tied at 2-2. The Panthers and the Eagles both scored two runs in the first inning and were both held scoreless through the next four innings, recording a combined two hits.

KK Esparza drew a walk and Jordan George hit a bunt single to put runners at second and first in the top of the fourth. Ana Hernandez hit a sac bunt to put two runs in scoring position, but the Panthers weren't able to convert as Kylie Griggs hit a deep fly ball that was caught at the right center wall to end the inning.

The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Boston College got in scoring position after reaching on a Panther fielding error and a single. The Eagles hit a sac fly to center field to take a 3-2 with one inning left to play.

Danni Farris got the start Saturday night and Kyra Pittman started Sunday with getting the final out of the first inning. Pittman pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits with a walk and a strikeout in 16 batters faced.
