Stefanoni Tosses Complete-Game Shutout, Griggs Has Two Homer Day as Pitt Sweeps BC Doubleheader

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Olivia Stefanoni tossed a complete-game shutout in game one and Kylie Griggs hit the game-winning home run in game two as the Panthers won both games of the doubleheader to secure the series win at Boston College, Friday afternoon.
Stefanoni did not allow a run, a walk, or a hit by pitch with five hits in 25 batters faced. The Hudson, Ohio native threw 81 pitches and retired the leadoff batter in each of the seven innings.
Kylie Griggs finished the day going a combined 3-for-6 with four RBI, a double, and two home runs. Griggs has hit a home run in two consecutive games and in four of her last six.
Game One – Pitt 4, Boston College 0
Pitt and Boston College began the series with a pitcher's duel as the two teams combined for two hits through the first 3.0 innings. Stefanoni started in the circle and allowed just one hit and struck out two of the first nine batters faced.
The Panthers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, as Kat Rodriguez drew a walk and set the stage for Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez's two-run home run to right center field. Pitt took a 2-0 edge into the fifth as Stefanoni retired three of four batters faced in the bottom of the fourth.
Alena Ball singled through the left side with two outs in the top of the fifth inning while Kylie Griggs extended the Panther's lead to 4-0 with another two-run home run to left field.
Stefanoni improved to 3-5 on the season after tossing her first-career complete-game shutout. The senior allowed five hits while striking out four, over 7.0 innings.
Game Two – Pitt 5, Boston College 4
The Panthers picked up where they left off as Cami Compson hit a solo home run to center field, her ninth homer of the season, to put Pitt on the board first. Jordan George extended the lead with another solo shot to left field, giving Pitt a 2-0 edge after two innings of play.
Boston College tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second after scoring on a Pitt fielding error and a sac fly to center field. The Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring off another sac fly to center field.
Kylie Griggs hit a double in the top of the fifth innings as Macy Hamilton tied the game at 3-3 with a single up the middle, scoring Griggs from second base. Boston College took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run to left center field.
The Panthers entered the final inning of play down by one run. Alena Ball leadoff the inning and was called safe at first. Griggs hit her second two-run home run of the day, putting the Panthers up 5-4 and securing the series win.
Danni Farris (2-3) entered the circle with two outs in the bottom of the third inning and struck out her lone batter faced. Farris earned the win, allowing just one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts with no walks and one hit by pitch. Olivia Stefanoni earned the save after retiring three of four batters faced in the bottom of the seventh.

The Panthers wrap up the series against Boston College with a single game tomorrow on the ACC Network. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
