Pitt Hosts Bryant for Weekend Series

PITTSBURGH – The Panthers are set to host the Bryant Bulldogs in the first meeting between the two teams in each of the programs' histories.
Pitt is coming off of a weekend where they took one game on the road at No. 6 Clemson. The Panthers have won a game against a top-seven ranks opponent in each of the last two weekends.
TOP OF THE ORDER
• The Panthers host the Bryant Bulldogs as the two programs meet for the first time in their respective histories.
• Pitt scored eight runs on 12 hits in the first four innings of their win over No. 6 Clemson during game one of Saturday's doubleheader last weekend.
• Dom Popa is off to the best start of his career, hitting .331 with 31 runs scored and a .431 on-base percentage. He leads the team in hits (47), average (.326), triples (1) and stolen bases (4), and is second in runs scored (31), doubles (8) and on base percentage (.431).
• Each of Jack Sokol's last two starts have come against top-seven ranked teams. He is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA ,11 strikeouts and has allowed just two runs over his 13 innings.
• First baseman Luke Cantwell currently ranks second in the ACC in on base percentage (.508), third in the ACC and 12th in the country in both walks (40) and walks/game (1.08) and is tied for seventh in the ACC in HBPs (10).
• Phil Fox has emerged as Pitt's go-to late-inning arm out of the bullpen. He has appeared in 15 games and has given up just four runs. Fox is 3-2 with three saves and a 1.46 ERA.
• Senior C.J. Funk is three walks away from 116 career walks. The mark would put him fourth all- time in walks in Pitt baseball history.
• Pitt and it's top of the order have been finding every way to get on base. Luke Cantwell leads the team in walks (40) while he and Dom Popa are both tied for the team-lead in HBPs (10). Each are tied for seventh in the ACC in HBPs.
• Pitt tied a season high with it's five home run against St. Bonaventure last Wednesday. Josh Spiegel, Jake Kendro and Ryan Zuckerman hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the second inning.
