PITTSBURGH – Pitt dropped a hard-fought contest to Ohio State, 3-2, after an hour and a half weather delay at Buckeye Field, Wednesday night. The Panthers outhit the Buckeyes, 7-3, but ultimately fell by one run to Ohio State.

Kat Rodriguez went 2-for-4 as six different Panthers recorded a hit. Kylie Griggs went 1-for-4 to extend her on-base streak to 13 games. Griggs is batting .343 (12-for-35) with nine walks in that span.

Rodriguez started the Panthers off with a single up the middle in the top of the first inning. The Buckeyes scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning off on hit and two walks.

Olivia Stefanoni allowed just one hit and issued one walk in 5.0 innings of relief. The senior left-handed pitcher entered the circle in the second inning and had one batter reach on a fielder's choice before retiring the next two batters. Stefanoni retired the side in the next two innings as the Hudson, Ohio, native allowed just one hit over 4.0 innings.

The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to make it a one-run game. Cami Compson drew a walk to lead off the inning and scored off a Desirae Martinez double to right center. Ana Hernandez hit another double to left center to plate the second run of the inning with two outs.

The Panthers returns to Vartabedian Field for its final home series of the season. Pitt face off against Syracuse, April 19-21. The Panthers will host their first PRIDE game on Saturday and will celebrate their seniors postgame on Sunday.
