Panthers Host No. 7 Duke in Weekend Series

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers will play host to the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils at Charles L. Cost Field in the sixth weekend of ACC play.
Pitt took the series from the Blue Devils the last time the programs met in Pittsburgh, taking games one and two to secure the series win in 2022.
TOP OF THE ORDER
• First baseman Luke Cantwell had two consecutive four-walk games against Georgia Tech last weekend. Cantwell currently ranks second in the ACC and ninth in the country in walks (35), third in the ACC in walks/game (1.21) and on base percentage (.515), and is tied for ninth in the ACC in HBPs (8).
• Justin Fogel is one of the toughest batters to strikeout in the country. He ranks sixth in the ACC strikeout average (9.5).
• Dom Popa is off to the best start of his career, hitting .304 with 25 runs scored and a .414 on-base percentage. He leads the team in triples (1) and stolen bases (4), is second in hits (34), runs scored (25) and doubles (8) and is third in on base percentage (.414).
• Pitt and it's top of the lineup have been finding every way to get on base. Dom Popa leads the team in HBPs (9) while Luke Cantwell leads the team in walks (27). Each are in the top 10 in the ACC in HBPs.
• Phil Fox has emerged as Pitt's go-to late-inning arm out of the bullpen. He has appeared in 12 games and has given up just two runs. Fox is 2-1 with two saves and a 0.86 ERA.
• The Panthers earned their 100th win as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference with their walk-off win on Saturday against Georgia Tech.
• Shortstop Jake Kendro leads the team in batting average (.317), is third in slugging percentage (.538) and tied for third in home runs (5). He slugged .583 with a double and a home run last weekend against Georgia Tech and has recorded a hit in his last seven games.
