KENT, OH – The Panthers make the short drive to Kent, Ohio for another nonconference game Tuesday, this time vs. the Kent State Golden Flashes. The afternoon contest is scheduled for a 4 PM start at Dix Stadium.
Tuesday's game will be the fourth in a row away from home for Pitt. Saturday, No. 10 Virginia defeated the Panthers in Charlottesville 19-10. Junior Sydney Naylor had a big day, with a career-high five points on five goals. The team also scooped up more ground balls than any other game this season with 21, partly thanks to career-best performances from Megan Sheridan (4), Kaitlyn Giandonato (3) and Ava Sumwalt (3). In goal, Audrey Moran made ten saves, the fourth such time she's had at least 10 this year.
The Golden Flashes sit at 4-6 in 2024 but are holding a two-game win streak after defeating Saint Francis (Pa.) and Youngstown State. Offensively, two Kent State players have over 30 points: Jackie Wolford (35G, 10A) and Zayda Crumpton (22G, 12A). Three goalies have recorded signifiact minutes for the Golden Flashes and have collectively made 103 saves with a .410 save percentage.
Following the midweek battle, Pitt returns to Highmark Stadium to host Virginia Tech Saturday, March 23. The game will feature a pregame ceremony honoring the 2024 seniors: Sammie Giroux, Sarah Labovitz, Audrey Moran and Camdyn O'Donnell.
