BLACKSBURG, Va. – Pitt drop the series finale to the No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies, 9-0, Sunday afternoon at the Tech Softball Park. The Panthers were held to just three hits and committed three errors.
Kat Rodriguez (1-for-2), Macy Hamilton (1-for-2), and Ana Hernandez (1-for-2) picked up the hits for the Panthers. Hamilton has recorded a hit in seven of the last nine games.
The Panthers got in scoring position early after Rodriguez led off with a single through the right side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Macy Hamilton hit a bunt single to reach first and reached second on a Kylie Griggs groundout. Pitt had runners on second and third, but the inning ultimately ended with a lineout double play to the second baseman.
The Hokies took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer to right center and a two RBI single with the bases loaded. Virginia Tech added three more runs in the second and one run in the third for a 9-0 lead after three innings.
