PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (7-16, 1-9 ACC) opens up a two-game homestand Thursday night as they welcome the Florida State Seminoles to the Petersen Events Center for an ACC battle. Thursday’s game will tip at 7:00 pm and air on ACC Network Extra.

THE OPENING TIP
- The Panthers return home Thursday night as they welcome the Florida State Seminoles to the Petersen Events Center for a 7pm tip on ACC Network Extra.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor for Pitt all year long. Last time out at #14 Notre Dame, she notched her 13th double-double with 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks while going 8-for-13 from the floor. She is the only player in the NCAA this season to average at least 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.
- King ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including fifth in scoring (19.1 ppg), second in rebounding (10.3 rpg), first in offensive rebounds (3.5 orpg), third in blocks (1.7 bpg), third in field goal percentage (55.2%), second in minutes played (35.3 mpg) and second in double-doubles (13).
- Forward Jala Jordan has been great for Pitt over her last seven games as she is averaging 28.2 minutes, 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 44.6% from the floor and 96.7% (29-for-30) from the free throw line.
- The Panthers have two great offensive rebounders on their team as Liatu King is tied for the ACC lead averaging 3.5 offensive rebounds per game and Rapuluchi Ayodele ranks sixth, averaging 3.1 per game. The duo is one of two in the NCAA (Angel Reese, Aneesah Morrow, LSU) to each have at least 72 offensive rebounds on the season.

JALA JORDAN ON A TEAR
- Graduate transfer forward Jala Jordan has been featured more of late and she’s taking advantage of her chances on the offensive end.
- So far this season, she is averaging 19.3 minutes, 8.7 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 41.3% from the floor and connecting on 81.6% of her free throws.
- In ACC play, Jordan has picked up her play as she is averaging 24.5 minutes, 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 40.2% from the floor and 93.8% from the charity stripe. She currently ranks second in the ACC in free throw percentage in conference games (30-for-32 overall).
- Last time out, Jordan collected her second double-double of the season and third of her career as she finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds while going 11-for-12 from the free throw line. The 11 free throws marked the most in a game by a Pitt player since Brenna Wise made 13 against Virginia Tech on Feb. 16, 2017.
- The 17 point effort gives Jordan a career-high six games with 15+ points so far this season including five in her last six games overall.
- Jordan has been great at the charity stripe since ACC play began. From the first Notre Dame game on Jan. 4 until the last Notre Dame game on Feb. 4 (nine games), Jordan connected on a career-high 27 straight free throw attempts for the Panthers before missing one last game.
- The 27 consecutive free throw makes are the most by a Pitt player since the Panthers joined the ACC in 2013-14.
- Last week at #18 Louisville, Jordan posted her first double-double as a Panther as she led the team with 17 points and 11 rebounds while going 6-for-11 from the floor. It marked her fifth straight game in double figures.
- Over her last seven games, Jordan has been one of the most efficient players in the conference. She is averaging 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 44.6% from the floor and 96.7% from the free throw line (29-for-30).
- In the win at Virginia, Jordan led all scorers with 18 points and nine rebounds while going 8-for-17 from the floor. It marked her fourth straight game in double figures for the Panthers.
- Against Boston College, Jordan paced the Panthers with 18 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block in a season-high 30 minutes of work. She finished the game going 5-for-9 from the floor while connecting on a career-best 8-for-8 from the line.
- She has now scored in double figures 10 times this season and 25 times in her career.
- Earlier this year in the win over Lehigh, Jordan netted a career-high 23 points while adding five rebounds. She was an efficient 10-for-15 from the floor in the win.
- When Jordan plays 20+ minutes for the Panthers she produces. In the 11 games she has played 20+ minutes she is averaging 14.4 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 47.5% from the floor. Pitt is just 3-9 in games she doesn’t play at least 20 minutes.
MORE NOTES
SERIES HISTORY – FLORIDA STATE
- This meeting marks the 11th of all-time between the two programs with Florida State winning each of the previous 10 against Pitt.
- The Seminoles collected the 74-37 win in Tallahassee last season in the lone meeting between the two teams.
- Florida State is 5-0 all-time in games played in Pittsburgh including earning a 57-52 win at the Pete in the last game there on Feb. 27, 2022.
SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES
- Florida State enters Thursday’s game with a 16-7 overall record and a 7-4 ACC mark after collecting a 75-68 home victory over Miami on Sunday. The Seminoles have won two straight overall.
- The Seminoles offensive attack is led by one of the best scorers in the conference Ta’Niya Latson. Latson ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring (20.5 ppg) while also adding 4.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game and shooting 42.7% from the floor.
- O’Mariah Gordon is enjoying a nice season as she is averaging 13.7 points, 3.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds while connecting on 40.6% from behind the arc. Makayla Timpson is averaging 13.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and a team-high 2.5 blocks while shooting 59.1% from the floor on the year.
- As a team, Florida State ranks second in the ACC in scoring (81.3 ppg) and three-pointers made per game (7.7). They are averaging 41.9 rebounds per game while holding opponents to just 39.4% shooting from the floor on the year. The Seminoles are also forcing 14.8 turnovers per game.
LAST TIME OUT – AT #14 NOTRE DAME
- Despite only trailing by four at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers fell on the road to #14 Sunday afternoon, 78-53.
- Pitt was led by Liatu King who netted a team-high 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks on 8-for-13 from the floor. It marked her 13th double-double of the season.
- Jala Jordan notched her second double-double as a Panther as she finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds while going 11-for-12 from the charity stripe in the loss.
- As a team, Pitt shot a season-low 28.8% from the floor while the Irish finished the game shooting 42.9% in the win. Pitt won the rebounding battle 47-39 but got outscored 18-4 in points off of turnovers in the loss.
KING OF THE COURT
- Senior Liatu King entered ACC play with her expectations at an all-time high as the Pitt coaching staff has instilled a confidence in her as a go-to option this season.
- She is enjoying a career year as she is averaging a team-high 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 55.2% from the floor.
- King currently ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including scoring (fifth), rebounding (second), offensive rebounds per game (first), blocks (third), field goal percentage (third), double-doubles (second) and minutes per game (second). She is the only player in any Power 5 conference to rank inside the top-5 in each of those categories.
- She is also the only player in the nation currently averaging at least 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 blocks per game on the year.
- King is the only player in the nation with at least 38 assists, 43 steals and 40 blocks so far this season.
- So far in ACC play, King is averaging 18.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 57.7% from the floor. She ranks seventh in scoring, third in rebounding, second in field goal percentage and third in blocks in ACC games.
- Last time out, King notched her 13th double-double of the season as she netted a team-high 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks on 8-for-13 shooting at #14 Notre Dame. It marked her 13th game this season with 10+ rebounds.
- With her eighth point Sunday, King became the 21st member of Pitt’s 1,000 career point club.
