PITTSBURGH, PA – Pitt Lacrosse will look to get back in the win column Monday afternoon as they host Detroit Mercy in the second of three in a row at home. The Panthers and Titans will play at 12 PM at Highmark Stadium.
This is the first meeting between the two programs, but that doesn't prevent the matchup from having any storylines. Head Coach Emily Boissonneault starred for Detroit Mercy from 2009 to 2012. Boissonneault finished her career with 242 goals, 193 ground balls, 157 caused turnovers and 143 draw controls. Her name is etched in the NCAA lacrosse record books as she ranks in the top 40 in career caused turnovers, caused turnovers per game and career goals. She was named Attacker of the Year for the National Lacrosse Conference in 2009 and Horizon League Woman of the Year in 2012. Boissonneault was inducted into the Detroit Mercy Athletics Hall of Fame in November of 2019.
On offense, three Panthers have six points or more: Jenna Hendrickson (7G, 1A), Sydney Naylor (6G) and Ava Washington (5G, 1A). Defensively, goalie Audrey Moran has accumulated 32 saves through four games and Maureen McNierney and Natalie Voorhees have three caused turnovers each.
Detroit Mercy is guided by first-year head coach, Madeline Dugan, and sits at 0-2 after falling at Duquesne on Saturday. Cat Kopchia has scored six goals to pace the Titans and Meredith Leavell has saved 23 shots in net.
As always at Highmark Stadium, admission is free. After Monday's contest, Pitt will close out their homestand with a conference clash against the Louisville Cardinals on March 2. Follow all the Pitt Lacrosse action 24/7 on Instagram and X: @Pitt_WLAX.
