TAMPA, Fla. – The Panthers were blanked by Loyola-Chicago, 8-0, during the final day of the South Florida Showdown at the USF Softball Stadium, Sunday morning. Pitt drops to 6-8 on the season as they begin ACC play next week.

The Panthers and Ramblers each went three up and three down in the opening inning before Loyola-Chicago scored three runs in the top of the second. The Ramblers reached on an error, hit a single and were hit by a pitch to load the bases. Abbie Gregus hit a two-run single and then another Rambler RBI groundout put the Loyola up 3-0. Loyola scored another more run in the top of the fourth on a single through the left side.

Rachael Fuerst broke up the Loyola no-hitter in the bottom of the fifth with a stand up double off the left field fence.

Loyola scored four more runs in the top of the sixth off a Haley Wallace grand slam. The Ramblers' bats came alive in the sixth as they hit a double, single, and loaded the bases on a fielder's choice with one out. The inning ended on two flyouts to left field as the Ramblers totaled four runs on three hits.

Olivia Stefanoni (2-3) suffered the loss for the Panthers as Peyton Pepkowski earned the win for the Ramblers after allowing just one hit through 6.0 innings.
