PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (8-20, 2-13 ACC) will be looking for their second straight road ACC victory Sunday afternoon as they head to Syracuse to battle the #17 Orange inside the JMA Wireless Dome. Sunday’s game will tip at 2:00 pm and air on ACC Network Extra.

THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt hits the road Sunday afternoon for their second meeting with the #17 Syracuse Orange at the JMA Wireless Dome at 2pm. Sunday’s game will air on ACC Network Extra.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor for Pitt all year long. Last time out against Wake Forest, she led the team in scoring for the 19th time this season as she netted 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes of work. She is the only player in the NCAA this season to average at least 18.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
- King ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including fifth in scoring (18.6 ppg), second in rebounding (10.4 rpg), third in offensive rebounds (3.4 orpg), third in blocks (1.6 bpg), fourth in field goal percentage (54.2%), second in minutes played (35.5 mpg) and second in double-doubles (15).
- Junior sharpshooter Bella Perkins has given the Panthers a big boost over the last three games as she has connected on multiple triples in all three games. Over her last three games, Perkins is averaging 13.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 50.0% from deep.
- The Pitt duo of Liatu King and Rapuluchi Ayodele are one of two in the NCAA this season (Angel Reese, Aneesah Morrow, LSU) to each have at least 82 total offensive rebounds.

SEEING DOUBLE-DOUBLES
- So far this season, Pitt players have combined to record 21 double-doubles. It marks the most in a single season by Pitt players since joining the ACC in 2013-14.
- The 21 double-doubles also ranks second most by a team in the ACC this season behind Virginia Tech (28).
- Four different Panthers have secured at least one double-double this season (King, Jordan, Ayodele, Washenitz). It marks the first time Pitt had four different players earn a double-double in the same season since 2016-17.
- King is leading the way with a career-high 15 double-doubles on the season. She currently ranks second in the ACC and 10th in the NCAA in double-doubles.
- She also has three games this season which she missed a double-double by either one rebound or one point.
- The 15 double-doubles are the most in a season by a Pitt player since Chelsea Cole (16) in 2010-11. She has posted the second most double-doubles in a single season by a Pitt player in the past 40 years.
- Her 15 double-doubles through the first 28 games of the season are the most by a Pitt player in program history.
- For her career, King has now recorded 25 double-doubles (points + rebounds).
- She ranks third among Pitt players in career double-doubles over the past 40 seasons (Marcedes Walker - 51, Chelsea Cole - 26, King - 25).
- Jordan has posted a career-high three double-doubles on the season after earning just one in her previous four seasons of college basketball.
MORE NOTES
SERIES HISTORY – SYRACUSE
- This meeting marks the 72nd of all-time between the two programs with Syracuse owning the 52-19 lead in the series.
- The Orange have won 25 straight in the series against the Panthers including a 72-59 victory in Pittsburgh earlier this year.
- The last win in the series for the Panthers came on Jan. 24, 2009 as they downed the Orange on the road, 77-75.
- The Panthers are 7-27 all-time in games played in Syracuse including losing 12 straight in the Dome in Syracuse.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse enters Sunday’s game with a 22-5 overall record and a 12-4 ACC mark after falling at home to Duke on Thursday, 58-45.
- The Orange are currently ranked No. 17 in the latest AP Top-25 Poll, their highest ranking under current head coach Felisha Legette-Jack.
- Syracuse is being led offensively by one of the premier scoring guards in the nation, Dyaisha Fair. She is averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals while shooting 38.3% from behind the arc and ranking second in the NCAA with 97 three-pointers.
- Georgia Woolley is enjoying a strong season as she is averaging 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals while connecting on 30 triples. Alaina Rice is also scoring in double figures with 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while freshman Alyssa Latham is having a strong season down low averaging 8.9 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds.
- As a team, the Orange are averaging 75.3 points per game while allowing just 65.0 points per contest. They are shooting 42.3% from the floor and 32.8% from behind the arc while snagging 41.5 rebounds per game and an ACC-high 16.0 offensive rebounds per game.
LAST TIME OUT – VS. WAKE FOREST
- The Panthers were unable to make the comeback Thursday night at the Pete as they fell behind the Wake Forest Demon Deacons early and fell, 65-50.
- The difference in the game came from behind the arc as the Demon Deacons connected on 10 three-pointers and Pitt was only able to make three in the loss.
- Liatu King once again led Pitt in scoring as she netted 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes of work. Off the bench, Rapuluchi Ayodele had seven points and seven rebounds while Bella Perkins had eight points, two rebounds and two assists for Pitt in the loss.
- As a team, the Panthers were held to 39.1% shooting while the Demon Deacons shot 43.1% from the floor in the win. Wake also turned 16 Pitt turnovers into 17 points in the win.
TAKING CHARGE(s)
- One of the points of emphasis for first-year head coach Tory Verdi this season is for his defense to take charges. He believes taking a charge can shift momentum and change the outcome of a game.
- In game one of the Verdi Era, Pitt took taking charges to heart as they drew four including one by Marley Washenitz in the final minute to seal the win.
- So far this season, Pitt has drawn a total of 46 charges through 28 games. Washenitz has eight games with multiple charges drawn so far this season for Pitt including a season-high three in three games (Ball State, Duke, UNC).
