Panthers Fall in Pitcher’s Duel to Ole Miss, 2-1

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kyra Pittman had a strong outing in the circle, holding Ole Miss to two hits but the Rebels scored two runs late in the sixth inning as the Panthers fell to the Rebels, 2-1, at Bailey Park early Sunday afternoon.

It was a pitcher's duel from the beginning as the Panthers and Rebels combined for four hits through the first 4.0 innings. Pittman retired the first three batters faced in 15 pitches, totaling two hits and a hit by pitch through the first 4.0 innings.

Pittman exited the game with one out in the bottom of the sixth, totaling just one earned run on two hits with one walk and two hit batters, over 5.1 innings of work (21 batters faced).

Ana Hernandez recorded two of the Panthers' four hits, starting with a double in the top of the second inning with one out to extend her hitting streak to three games. Hernandez is batting 5-for-11 (.455) in that span and has recorded a double in consecutive games.

The Rebels evened the score with a Lexie Brady triple down the right field line off Olivia Stefanoni. Ole Miss took the lead after an Aynslie Furbush single through the right side to score Brady and put the Rebels up 2-1.

Desirae Martinez picked up another hit for the Panthers with a single through the right side in the top of the sixth inning. KK Esparza got the other hit for the Panthers with a single up the middle with two outs in the top of the seventh.
