PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (7-19, 1-12 ACC) stays on the road Sunday afternoon as they travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers at Littlejohn Coliseum at 12:00 pm. Sunday’s game will air live on ACC Network Extra.

THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt concludes a two-game road swing Sunday afternoon as they head to Clemson to battle the Tigers inside Littlejohn Coliseum at 12:00 pm on ACC Network Extra.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor for Pitt all year long. Last time out at North Carolina, she notched her 15th double-double of the season as she netted 16 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals in the loss. She is the only player in the NCAA this season to average at least 18.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
- King ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including fifth in scoring (18.7 ppg), second in rebounding (10.7 rpg), third in offensive rebounds (3.5 orpg), third in blocks (1.6 bpg), fourth in field goal percentage (54.1%), second in minutes played (35.5 mpg) and second in double-doubles (15).
- Freshman guard Aaryn Battle has earned back-to-back starts for the Panthers and responded with some solid performances. Last time out at UNC, she netted her second straight game in double figures with 11 points on 4-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from deep. Across her last three games, Battle is averaging 25.2 minutes and 9.7 points while shooting 50% from the floor.

BATTLE TESTED
- Freshman guard Aaryn Battle has made a strong impact during her first season as a Panther especially on the offensive end of the floor.
- So far this season, she is averaging 21.8 minutes, 5.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 42.1% from the floor, 33.3% from behind the arc and 74.1% from the free throw line.
- Last time out at UNC, Battle netted 11 points on 4-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from behind the arc in the loss.
- Over her last three games, Battle is averaging 25.2 minutes and 9.7 points while shooting 50% from the floor and making 4-of-6 from behind the arc.
- She has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and in five games overall this season. She has also recorded multiple assists in 13 games.
- Battle had a career game in Pitt’s win over Le Moyne earlier this season as she netted 17 points, six rebounds and three assists while going 6-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.

SERIES HISTORY – CLEMSON
- This meeting marks the 20th of all-time between the two programs with Clemson holding the slim 10-9 lead in the series.
- Clemson won each of the last two games in the series including a 71-53 victory in the First Round of the ACC Tournament last season.
- The Panthers are 4-4 all-time in Clemson and have won four of the last five games played in Littlejohn Coliseum including a 78-73 overtime victory there on Jan. 27, 2022.
- Since joining the ACC in 2013-14, Pitt is 7-6 against the Tigers including a 4-2 mark in South Carolina.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Clemson enters Sunday’s game with a 11-14 overall record and a 4-9 ACC mark after falling at home to Georgia Tech Thursday, 64-63. The Tigers have lost two straight one-possession games.
- The Tigers are being led offensively by forward Amari Robinson who is averaging 17.7 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 55.1% from the floor. Former Panther Dayshanette Harris is enjoying a career year as she is averaging 13.5 points, 4.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting a career-high 46.4% from the floor.
- Ruby Whitehorn is enjoying a nice season as she is averaging 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds while ranking second on the team in steals (37) and assists (40). Mackenzie Kramer has connected on a team-high 44 three-pointers while averaging 8.3 points so far this season.
- As a team, Clemson is averaging 71.4 points per game which ranks eighth in the ACC while allowing 69.8 points against per game (14th in ACC). The Tigers shoot 33% from behind the arc while averaging the third most three-pointers made per game in the ACC (7.0/game). The Tigers also grab just 36.3 rebounds per game which ranks 13th in the conference.
LAST TIME OUT – AT NORTH CAROLINA
- Pitt put together a strong first half Thursday that saw them earn the 29-27 lead while holding the Tar Heels to just 32.1% shooting. Unfortunately, UNC came out strong in the second half and earned the 75-62 come-from-behind win.
- The Panthers were led offensively by Liatu King who netted 16 points and 14 rebounds while Bella Perkins came off the bench and finished with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists while draining a season-high four triples.
- For the game, Pitt shot 48.1% from the floor and 58.3% from behind the arc while holding UNC to 43.6% shooting. The difference in the game was turnovers as Pitt committed 24 which the Tar Heels turned into 24 points in the win.
TAKING CHARGE(s)
- One of the points of emphasis for first-year head coach Tory Verdi this season is for his defense to take charges. He believes taking a charge can shift momentum and change the outcome of a game.
- In game one of the Verdi Era, Pitt took taking charges to heart as they drew four including one by Marley Washenitz in the final minute to seal the win.
- So far this season, Pitt has drawn a total of 42 charges through 26 games. Washenitz has seven games with multiple charges drawn so far this season for Pitt including a season-high three in three games (Ball State, Duke, UNC).
