Track and Field Begins Indoor Season at YSU Icebreaker on Friday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's track and field teams will kick off the 2024-25 indoor season at the 13th annual YSU Icebreaker, hosted by Youngstown State at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS), Friday afternoon. Both running events and field events will begin at 1 p.m. and will follow a rolling schedule.
NEW PANTHERS
The Panthers welcome 26 newcomers to the roster this season. 10 freshmen, Faith Dennis, Emanuel Gayanilo, Samuell Guzman, Madisyn Hawkins, Hailey Kravetz, James Long, Maya Maycock, Hayzes Robinson, Tyler Rossi, and Tyrese Washington are eager to compete at the collegiate level.
Seven transfer students, Mikhi Anderson, Alexa Brown, Je'Nyia Burton, Antwan James, Isaac Kane, Maddie Lewis, and Jaden Shelton are prepped to compete in the blue and gold.
Nine Panthers were listed on the 2024 Cross Country roster and will move from the course to the track this winter. Cole Casadei, Ella Cook, Gabby Keith, Nolan McGinn, Thomas McMahon, Sienna Miller, Sophie Mullins, Zoe Simpson and Nick Steinfeldt will look to compete in the middle to long distance races in their first indoor season at Pitt.

The Panthers will return to action in the new year, when they travel east to Penn State for the Nittany Lion Challenge on January 18, 2025.
