PITTSBURGH – Coming off the largest victory of the head coach Tory Verdi era, the Pitt women's basketball team will return to action Saturday, hosting Bucknell at the Petersen Events Center.
Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m., and the game can be streamed via ACCNX.

Faye Shines in Opener
Graduate center Khadija Faye opened the 2024-25 campaign in impressive fashion, logging 25 points (career-best) and 12 rebounds. Faye shot 8-of-14 from the field and 9-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Forcing Turnovers
As a team, Pitt forced 35 turnovers against Canisius – marking the most in program history.
Malcolm Picks Up Where She Left Off
Junior Aislin Malcolm tallied 11 points on an efficient 3-of-5 shooting from the floor against Canisius in the opener. Malcolm also went perfect from the free throw line (4-of-4). Last season, she averaged a career-high 9.3 points – ranking second on the team, while shooting 31.6 percent from behind the arc.
Washenitz Matches Career High
Junior guard Marley Washenitz recorded five steals in the opener, matching her career high.
Series History - Bucknell
- Saturday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the Panthers and the Bison, as Pitt leads the series, 2-1.

Last Time Out
Pitt defeated Canisius, 78-36, in its season opener behind a double-double from Faye Tuesday evening at the Petersen Events Center. The 42-point win marked Tory Verdi's largest margin of victory since becoming head coach in 2023.
Pitt's stifling defense forced 35 Canisius turnovers, which marks the most turnovers the Panthers have forced an opponent to commit since at least 2010. Pitt scored 39 points off the Griffins' turnovers, while grabbing 14 steals to go with five blocks.
The Panthers shot 43.8 percent (28-of-64) from the field and 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from behind the arc. Pitt converted on 20-of-30 free throws, with Faye hitting 9-of-12. Pitt outrebounded Canisius 43-27, including winning 17-3 on the offensive boards.
