PITTSBURGH – Pitt returns to the Petersen Events Center Tuesday, Jan. 9 to host No. 11 Duke. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. with Wes Durham, Cory Alexander and Jim Boeheim calling the action on ESPN.
THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt and Duke have partnered to play in the inaugural Hoops4ALS games, Jan. 9 at the Petersen Events Center and Jan. 20 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
- Hoops4ALS is a group dedicated to uniting basketball coaches, players, and fans to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) — also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease — and promote research and advocacy to help those dealing with this fatal disease and to support those working to find a cure.
- Pitt leads the ACC in rebounds (41.1 rpg.), rebound margin (+7.40), and defensive rebound pct. (.772), while ranking second in offensive rebounds (13.2 orpg.), and offensive rebound percentage (.341).
- Blake Hinson has scored in double figures in 14 of 15 games with seven 20+ point games. He ranks among the ACC leaders in scoring (T-3rd - 19.1 ppg.), three-pointers (1st - 51), and three-point percentage (7th - .408).
- Carlton Carrington was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season after averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He is the first Pitt player to garner conference Rookie of the Week accolades four times in a season since Chris Taft (2003-04).
PANTHER SPOTLIGHTS
- Carlton Carrington has recorded six games with at least 15 points and five assists. He is the only freshman in the country averaging at least 14.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
- Guillermo Diaz Graham is averaging 9.8 points, 6.2 rebounds. 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.4 blocks as a starter over the past five games.
- Jaland Lowe is averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game over the past three contests. He is 10-of-21 (.476) from the field in 19.7 minutes per game in that span.

BY THE NUMBERS - INDIVIDUAL
- Carlton Carrington has scored in double figures 13 times with five or more assists on 10 occasions. He leads ACC freshmen in assists (5.0 apg.), while ranking second in points (14.6 ppg), rebounds (5.3 rpg.), and three-point field goals (30).
- Blake Hinson has made at least one three-pointer in 48 of 51 games as a Panther and is now 148-of-381 (.388) from three-point range in his career at Pitt. He is just the second Panther to make 50 or more three-pointers in consecutive seasons since Pitt joined the ACC (2013-14).
- Ishmael Leggett missed Saturday’s win over Louisville snapping a string of 83 consecutive starts. He leads the Panthers in rebounding (6.2 rpg.) and steals (18), while ranking second in assists (37) and third in scoring (12.6 ppg.).
- Zack Austin is averaging 10.6 points per game, while going 18-of-33 (.545) from the field, including 8-of-16 from three-point range, over the past five games. He posted season highs in points (20) and threes (4) in Saturday’s win over Louisville.
- The post tandem of Guillermo Diaz Graham and Federiko Federiko combine to average 13.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game, while shooting 57.5 percent (77-of-134) from the field.
- Jaland Lowe is averaging 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game over the past five contests. He has 18 assists with just four turnovers in 110 minutes of action in that span.
- Guillermo Diaz Graham has scored in double figures in four of the past seven games and is averaging 10.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game, while going 28-of-50 (.560) from the field (8-of-20 3FG) in that span.

BY THE NUMBERS - TEAM
- Pitt is the only team in the ACC with three players - Federiko Federiko, Zack Austin and Guillermo Diaz Graham - ranked in the top 15 in the league in blocks. The trio combines for 3.86 blocks per game.
- Pitt is 7-20 all-time against teams ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll. The Panthers have won three of the past four such meetings. Pitt is 2-1 under Jeff Capel against the No. 11 team in the AP Poll.
- The Panthers have made 10 or more threes in a game eight times and are averaging 9.6 three-point field goals per game. Pitt has made 52 more three-pointers than it has allowed this season.
- Pitt has held nine opponents below 30 percent shooting from three-point range and ranks ninth in the NCAA in three-point percentage defense (.269).
