PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (6-12, 0-5 ACC) returns home Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Syracuse Orange (15-2, 5-1 ACC) to the Petersen Events Center for a conference battle. Sunday’s game will tip at 2:00 pm and air on ACC Network Extra.

THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt returns home Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Syracuse Orange to the Petersen Events Center. Sunday’s game will tip at 2pm and air on ACC Network Extra.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor for Pitt all year long. Last time out, she netted a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds while going 8-for-14 from the floor. She is the only player in the NCAA this season to average at least 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals per game.
- King currently ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including fifth in scoring (19.3 ppg), second in rebounding (9.7 rpg), third in blocks (1.8 bpg), third in field goal percentage (55.3%), second in minutes played (35.3 mpg) and second in double-doubles (nine).
- Sophomore guard Aislin Malcolm is enjoying her best season as a Panther as she is averaging 10.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 38.8% from three-point range which leads the ACC. She has scored in double figures a career-high nine times so far this season.
- Forward Jala Jordan had another strong game last time out at Boston College as she netted a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds in 30 minutes of work. When Jordan plays 20+ minutes (six games), she is averaging 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 54.1% from the floor.

JASMINE TIMMERSON GETTING MORE MINUTES
- Freshman point guard Jasmine Timmerson has seen an uptick in her minutes of late due to her consistent play.
- The Wexford, PA native earned her first career start last time out at Boston College and she responded with a career-high eight points, career-high seven assists and three rebounds in 29 minutes of work. She went 2-for-4 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
- Over her last four games, Timmerson is averaging 24.0 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.5 assists and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 50% from the floor.
MORE NOTES
SERIES HISTORY – SYRACUSE
- This meeting marks the 71st of all-time between the two programs with Syracuse owning the 51-19 lead in the series.
- Syracuse is the most played opponent for Pitt as this marks the 71st meeting between the squads.
- The Orange have won 24 straight in the all-time series including a pair of meetings last season.
- Pitt’s last win in the series came on Jan. 24, 2009 as they earned a 77-75 road victory over the Orange.
- The Panthers are 12-22 all-time against Syracuse in Pittsburgh with their last win at home coming on Jan. 9, 2008 by the score of 85-75.
- The Orange have won 12 straight against Pitt in Oakland.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse enters Sunday’s game with a 15-2 overall record and a 5-1 ACC mark as they’ve secured four straight ACC wins including a 79-73 come-from-behind win over #15 Florida State on Thursday night.
- Leading the Orange offensively is one of the best players in the country, Dyaisha Fair. She is averaging 35.6 minutes, 20.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals while connecting on an ACC-high 59 three-pointers and shooting 38.6% from deep.
- Georgia Woolley is enjoying a nice season as she is averaging 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.2 steals while making 14 starts. Freshman Alyssa Latham is averaging 11.0 points, a team-high 8.4 rebounds and a team-high 1.5 blocks while shooting 54.1% from the floor and securing six double-doubles on the year.
- As a team, the Orange are averaging 78.8 points per game while allowing just 63.8 points per contest. They are shooting 44% from the floor while grabbing an average of 43.8 rebounds per game which ranks third in the ACC.
LAST TIME OUT – AT BOSTON COLLEGE
- Trailing by eight heading into the final quarter, the Panthers continued to fight and had multiple chances at the game-winning bucket in the final minutes of the fourth but couldn’t break through as the game went to overtime.
- In the overtime period, the Eagles pulled away and secured the 84-71 home win over the Panthers thanks to a season-high 33 free throw attempts.
- Jala Jordan led the Panthers with 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Liatu King also netted 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Jasmine Timmerson made her first career start and finished with eight points and a career-high seven assists for the Panthers.
- As a team, Pitt shot 46.3% from the floor while the Eagles shot just 39.7%. The difference in the game came in the turnover battle as Pitt turned it over 26 times, leading to 27 points for the Eagles in the win.
JALA JORDAN STEPPING UP
- Graduate transfer forward Jala Jordan has been featured more of late and she’s taking advantage of her chances on the offensive end.
- So far this season, she is averaging 16.5 minutes, 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 41.7% from the floor and connecting on 70.4% of her free throws.
- Last time out at Boston College, Jordan paced the Panthers with 18 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block in a season-high 30 minutes of work. She finished the game going 5-for-9 from the floor while connecting on a career-best 8-for-8 from the line.
- Jordan has now scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the Panthers. She has six games scoring in double digits on the year.
- Over her last two games, Jordan is averaging 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 60% from the floor.
- Earlier this year in the win over Lehigh, Jordan netted a career-high 23 points while adding five rebounds. She was an efficient 10-for-15 from the floor in the win.
- When Jordan plays 20+ minutes for the Panthers she produces. In the six games she has played 20+ minutes she is averaging 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 54.1% from the floor.
