PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (6-10, 0-3 ACC) will play host to their third top-20 ACC opponent through the first four conference games Thursday night as #15 Louisville comes to town. Thursday’s game will tip at 6:00 pm and air on ACC Network with Sam Ravech and Jasmine Thomas on the call from the Pete.

THE OPENING TIP
- The Panthers close out their three-game homestand Thursday night as they welcome #15 Louisville to the Petersen Events Center for a conference battle. Thursday’s game will tip at 6pm and air on ACC Network with Sam Ravech and Jasmine Thomas on the call.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor all year long and it continued on Sunday as she recorded her career-high ninth double-double of the season as she had 15 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high six blocks on 6-for-12 from the floor against Georgia Tech. So far through three ACC games (two vs. ranked foes), King is averaging 22.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg and 3.0 bpg while shooting 65% from the floor
- King currently ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including fourth in scoring (20.3 ppg), second in rebounding (10.0 rpg), third in blocks (1.9 bpg), fifth in steals (2.0 spg), third in field goal percentage (55.6%) and second in double-doubles (nine).
- Sophomore guard Aislin Malcolm is enjoying her best season as a Panther as she is averaging 10.8 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 41.9% from three-point range which leads the ACC. Last time out she netted a team-high 19 points while draining five three-pointers.
- The Pitt defense posted a season-high 12 blocks against Georgia Tech last time out, led by King who notched a career-high six. The 12 blocked shots are the most in a game by Pitt since recording 13 against Arkansas State on Nov. 25, 2017.

KING OF THE COURT
- Senior Liatu King enters ACC play with her expectations at an all-time high as the Pitt coaching staff has instilled a confidence in her as a go-to option this season.
- She is enjoying a career year as she is averaging a team-high 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.9 blocks while shooting 55.6% from the floor and 75.3% from the free throw line.
- She is the only player in the nation currently averaging at least 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game on the year.
- King is also the only player in the nation with at least 30 assists, 30 steals and 30 blocks so far this season.
- So far in ACC play, King is averaging 22.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.7 assists while shooting 65.0% from the floor. She ranks fourth in scoring and rebounding and second in field goal percentage in ACC games.
- King currently ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including scoring (fourth), rebounding (second), blocks (third), steals (fifth), field goal percentage (third), double-doubles (second) and minutes per game (first). She is the only player in the conference to rank inside the top-5 in each of those categories.
- Last time out, King notched her ninth double-double of the season as she netted 15 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks and two steals against Georgia Tech. She is one of just two players in the ACC over the past 15 seasons to post a game with at least 15 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks and two steals (Azura Stevens - Duke - 11/15/15).
- Last week against #16 Notre Dame, King exploded for a career-high 34 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and two assists while going 13-for-18 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the free throw line. She is one of just three players in the NCAA this season to post a game with at least 34 points and 13 rebounds (Caitlin Clark - Iowa, Aneesah Morrow - LSU) while being the only player in the country to also add three blocks in the same game.
- The 34 points for King are the second most by a Pitt player at the Petersen Events Center trailing only Asia Logan’s 36 against William & Mary on Nov. 11, 2012.
- King is the first opponent to score at least 34 points and 13 rebounds in a game against Notre Dame in the past 15 seasons.
- Earlier this year, King earned Sun Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 steals in two games.
- In the win over NKU earlier this year, King went off for a career-high 30 points and nine rebounds while going 14-for-18 from the floor. She is the first ACC player in the past two seasons to score 30+ points, grab nine rebounds, make 14 field goals and shoot 77% from the floor in a single game.
- King currently ranks 23rd in the NCAA with 31 blocked shots on the season. She is the only player in the NCAA 6 foot tall or shorter with at least 31 blocked shots on the year.
- She is also doing a great job getting to the free throw line and making them. She ranks second in the ACC in free throw attempts (85) and made free throws (64) while shooting 75.3% from the line which ranks 14th in the conference.
- For her career, King has now recorded 18 double-doubles (points + rebounds) including a career-high nine this season.
- She has scored in double figures 40 times in her career while recording multiple blocks 27 times.
- A ferocious rebounder, King has grabbed at least five rebounds in 61 of her 91 career games. She has led the Panthers in rebounding 42 times while snagging 10+ boards 24 times in her career.
MORE NOTES
SERIES HISTORY – LOUISVILLE
- This meeting marks the 28th of all-time between the two programs with Louisville owning the 25-2 lead in the series. The Cardinals have won 21 straight games overall in the series.
- Pitt is just 2-11 all-time against the Cardinals in Pittsburgh with the last win coming on Feb. 14, 2010.
- Louisville won both meetings against the Panthers last season including a 77-53 victory inside the Petersen Events Center.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
- The Louisville Cardinals enter Thursday’s game with a 13-2 overall record and a 2-0 ACC mark. They’ve won three straight overall including a 61-44 home win over Duke last Thursday.
- Louisville enters this week ranked No. 15 in the latest AP Top-25 Poll.
- The Cardinals are being led offensively by Kiki Jefferson who is averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 51.2% from the floor and 91.1% from the charity stripe. Olivia Cochran is enjoying a strong season, averaging 11.9 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds while shooting 52.3% from the floor.
- Sydney Taylor has started all 15 games and is averaging 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists while connecting on a team-high 21 three-pointers. Nyla Harris has been efficient as she is averaging 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting a team-high 54.5% from the floor.
- As a team, the Cardinals are averaging 74.8 points per game while allowing just 58.7 points per contest. They are shooting 44.9% from the floor while also winning the rebounding battle 37.8 to 28.7.
LAST TIME OUT – VS. GEORGIA TECH
- Despite outscoring the Yellow Jackets in the second half, the Panthers fell to 0-3 in ACC play Sunday afternoon as Georgia Tech secured the 68-58 road win.
- Aislin Malcolm led the Panthers in scoring as she netted 19 points , two rebounds, two assists and two steals while connecting on a career-high five three-pointers. Liatu King finished her ninth double-double with 15 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high six blocks while Bella Perkins added 13 points off the bench in the loss.
- As a team, the Panthers were held to just 35% shooting while the Yellow Jackets shots 39.3%. Pitt was outrebounded 39-38 while they held the 12-1 edge in blocked shots and the 18-0 lead in bench scoring.
BLOCK PARTY
- Last time out against Georgia Tech, the Panthers defense came up with a season-high 12 blocked shots and five different players recorded at least one rejection.
- The 12 blocks are the most in a game for the Panthers since they notched 13 against Arkansas State on Nov. 25, 2017. They are also the most in a conference game since recording 12 against Clemson on Feb. 9, 2017.
- Senior Liatu King led the Panthers with a career-high six blocks in the loss. The six-block effort marked the most in a game by a Pitt player since Rita Igbokwe had six against Miami on Jan. 21, 2021. Jala Jordan also recorded a season-high three rejections.
- On the season, Pitt ranks seventh in the ACC in blocks per game (4.8 bpg) while ranking tied for second (7.0 bpg) during ACC games.
- King ranks 23rd in the NCAA and second in the ACC in total blocks (31). She is the only player in the nation 6-foot tall or shorter with at least 31 blocks on the season.
PERKINS STEPPING UP
- Junior guard Bella Perkins is being relied on to be a scoring threat from the guard position this season for the Panthers.
- So far this season, she has started six of 15 games and is averaging 23.7 minutes, 8.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists while connecting on 25 three-pointers (second on the team).
- Last time out, Perkins came off the bench against Georgia Tech and provided a big spark as she played 26 minutes and netted 13 points and two rebounds while connecting on three triples.
- So far this season, she has posted a career-high six games scoring in double figures while netting multiple triples in eight games. She has hit three or more triples a team-high five times this season.
- In the win over Lehigh earlier this year, Perkins netted a career-high 22 points to go along with five assists and three rebounds off the bench. She finished the game going 4-for-7 from behind the arc in the win. It marked her second 20-point game of her career and second as a Panther.
- Perkins opened her Pitt career with 21 points in a win over Yale as she drained a trio of triples including two in the final minutes to secure the win for Pitt
- She has also posted six games with multiple assists and five with at least three rebounds.
