No. 22 Pitt Panthers Fall to No. 21 Xavier Musketeers, 1-2

CINCINNATI, OH – The No. 22 Pitt Panthers (6-1-0, 0-0-0 ACC) fell to the No. 21 Xavier Musketeers (5-1-0, 0-0-0 Big East) in Thursday night matchup at Concoran Field.
The Panthers dominated the front half of the first 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Ellie Breech posted four goals in the first half with seven saves total tonight for the Panthers.
In the 32nd minute, Shelby Sallee netted her first goal of the season off of Breech's save rebound. Xavier went into the locker room with the 1-0 lead, but Pitt wasn't finished fighting.
Xavier posted their second goal on the night in the 74th minute as Sallee headed in the ball off a free-kick.
Just under the 81st minute, Pitt cut Xavier's lead in half after Mackenzie Evers sent the ball into the net off of Amanda West's assist. This is Evers' first goal and West's second assist of the season.
Pitt posted 13 shots with nine shots on goal tonight. The Panthers fought until the but fell short to the Musketeers.

The Panthers will remain in Cincinnati, OH where they will take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday, Sept. 10 with a 1 PM start.
