Durham, NC -- Pitt's season ends as they fell to No. 1 Wake Forest in the second game of their pool play round in the ACC Baseball Championships, 10-2, Thursday afternoon.
With a leadoff double in the bottom of the first inning, Sky Duff became Pitt Baseball's all-time doubles leader as he hit his 54th career double off the right field wall. Duff had tied the record in their series opener against Cal on April 28th and has had many close calls since, you could a weight was lifted off his shoulders once he reached second base this afternoon.
Noah Martinez ended the year as Pitt's RBI and hits leader, putting an exclamation point on that this past week. Today in the bottom of the first inning, following Duff's record-breaking double, Martinez pulled an RBI double down the first base line. He finished the year with 62 hits and 52 RBI.
Dom Popa hit his second career home run, and his second home run in as many days, in the bottom of the eighth inning. He finished the day 1-3.
Matthew Fernandez and Nash Bryan were strong out of the bullpen in long relief for the Panthers this afternoon. Fernandez threw two innings, giving up one run on three hits while Nash Bryan in his final collegiate game threw three innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four.
Wake Forest struck first scoring a quick three runs in the top of the first on an RBI single, an RBI double, and a SAC fly to center.

Noah Martinez roped an RBI double down the first base line, scoring Duff from second, and getting Pitt on the board. Pitt trailed 3-1 after one.
The Demon Deacons added three more again in the top of the third. Brock Wilken led off the inning with a solo shot as Bennett Lee hit a two-run home run to put Wake Forest up 6-1. They tacked on another one in the top of the fifth and would lead 7-1 for the next few innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning Dom Popa smacked a home run over the right center field wall for the second consecutive day, the first two home runs of his career.
Wake added another three runs in the top of the ninth and lead this game 10-2 heading into the bottom half.
In his final collegiate at-bat, Jack Anderson lined a single through the left side and into left field. He was 1-3 on the day with a walk. Kyle Hess in his final collegiate plate appearance lined into a 5-3 double play in the very next at-bat, nabbing Anderson at first.
