Whaley, Seamans Named to NFCA All-Region Team

PITTSBURGH – Pitt softball shortstop Yvonne Whaley (First Team) and first baseman Sarah Seamans (Second Team) earned more postseason recognition as the duo was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team, Thursday afternoon.
Whaley, a First Team All-ACC selection, became just the third Panther to earn NFCA first team honors, joining Giorgiana Zeremenko (2018) and Savannah King (2015).
The Houston, Texas, native ended the regular season leading the nation in doubles per game (0.40) and ranking among league leaders in doubles (17 – 8th), batting average (.439 – 15th), and hits (65 – 29th). Whaley was the second toughest batter to strikeout among conference players, 13th overall, recording just five strikeouts in 148 at-bats.
Seamans, a Third Team all-conference selection, batted a career-high .385 (60-for-156) with a team-leading 13 home runs. The graduate student ended the season ranking among conference players in home runs (13 – 8th), hits (61 – 8th), slugging percentage (.700 – 9th) and OPS (1.153 – 9th).
