
Whaley, Seamans Earn All-ACC Honors

PITTSBURGH – Shortstop Yvonne Whaley (first team) and first baseman Sarah Seamans (third team) earned All-ACC recognition as announced by the conference office, Wednesday afternoon.
Whaley earned a spot on the first team after batting .439 (65-for-148) overall and .429 (36-for-84) in conference play. The Houston, Texas, product concluded her final season setting program records in career batting average, single season batting average and tied the single season program record in doubles.
The 2023 Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF) draftee ended the regular season leading the ACC with 17 doubles and was the second toughest batter to strikeout among conference players, recording just five strikeouts in 148 at-bats. Whaley finished the regular season ranking among the top 10 in the ACC for hits (68 – 3rd), batting average (.439 – 4th), OPS (1.214 – 5th), on-base percentage (.503 – 6th) and slugging percentage (.711 – 8th).
Seamans was named to the third team after batting a career-high .385 (60-for-156) on the season and .355 (27-for-76) in conference play. The New Castle, Pa., native hit a team-leading 13 home runs this season and ended her career with the fifth most career home runs in program history (31).
Seamans ranks among ACC players in home runs (13 – 8th), hits (61 – 8th), slugging percentage (.700 – 9th) and OPS (1.153 – 9th).
This is the second career ACC honor for both Whaley and Seamans. Whaley was named to the third team in 2022 while Seamans earned second team recognition in 2021. Whaley is the first player to receive first team honors since Olivia Gray and Giorgiana Zeremenko were both named to the All-ACC first team in 2018.
