Panthers Move Up Game Times Against Georgia Tech

Pitt softball returns to Pittsburgh to host Georgia Tech in a three-game series at Vartabedian Field, April 14-16. Due to rain predicted in the forecast, Friday's game has been moved up to a 4 p.m. start time while Saturday's game has also been moved up to an 11 a.m. start. Sunday's game will remain with a start time of 12 p.m.
The Panthers return back home after a seven-game road stint that spanned over 14 days. Pitt faced off against Notre Dame, Robert Morris, North Carolina, and Saint Francis in that stretch.
The weekend series marks the 27th meeting between Pitt and Georgia Tech, facing off for the first time in Pittsburgh since 2018.
Pitt holds a 14-12 edge over the Yellow Jackets in the all-time series and a 6-3 record when played at Vartabedian Field.
The Panthers will play the Yellow Jackets for the first time since 2021 where the Panthers took two of four games March 12-14, 2021.
Nine of the Panthers' wins this season have come by four or more runs, including three wins by eight or more runs. 12 of their losses have been decided by three or fewer runs with four loses being decided by one run.
The Panthers have out-hit their opponents in 18 of 35 games this season, including outhitting the FIU Panthers 21-12 over two games Feb. 17-18 and Notre Dame 37-22 over three games.

NOTES

Yvonne Whaley is the second toughest batter to strikeout in the ACC and 10th toughest batter in the NCAA. Whaley is batting .434 on the season and has recorded just three strikeouts in 99 at-bats this season.
Whaley leads the ACC in doubles (15) and is just two doubles shy of setting the Pitt single-season program record in doubles.
Kat Rodriguez is the seventh toughest to strikeout in ACC, having six strikeouts in 95 at-bats.
Sarah Seamans ranks among the top 10 in the ACC in four offensive categories: batting average (.407 - 7th), slugging percentage (.731 - 7th), OPS (1.206 - 8th), and hits (44 - 10th). Seamans is also fourth in the ACC with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Seamans has hit a team-leading eight home runs this season and 26 homers in her career. She currently ranks fifth all-time in program history in career home runs.
