
Pitt Gymnastics Completes Final EAGL Championship

Pawlak Claims Second-Place Overall on Bars
DURHAM, NH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team finished eighth overall at the 2023 EAGL Championships to complete their final competition in the EAGL conference as they are moving into the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) next season.
The Panthers secured podium titles in three events during the first session of the EAGL Championships. Freshman Natalia Pawlak claimed the first-place title on bars with her 9.900 in the first session and tied for second place in the conference. In the first session, Jordyn Ewing, Sidney Washington, and Ciara Ward secured the second-place title on floor – all securing a spot on the All-Tournament First Team. Freshman Reyna Garvey earned the second-place title in the first session on beam – claiming 7th overall.
FLOOR
The Panthers started the afternoon off strong on floor. Senior Nay'yarrah Winder started the rotation – earning a 9.775. Erin Hutchison posted a 9.825. Ewing, Washington, and Ward all earned a 9.850 for their routines – tying for the second-place title in the first session and earning a spot on the All-Tournament First-Team. Pitt finished the first rotation with a 49.140 overall – their highest team score of the meet.
VAULT
Pitt continued onto their second rotation – vault. Senior Christina Weiss posted a 9.725 and freshman Kennedy Duke earned a 9.750. Washington anchored the event – earning a 9.775. The Panthers completed the second rotation with a 48.050 and a 97.200 total.
BARS
In the third rotation of the afternoon, Ewing earned a 9.700 for her routine on bars. Freshman Pawlak secured the first-place title on bars in the first rotation with her 9.900 – tying for second place overall. Washington anchored the event for the Panthers – posting a 9.800 for her routine. Pitt finished the rotation with a 48.625.
BEAM
The Panthers completed the afternoon on beam. Weiss started off strong for Pitt – earning a 9.725. Ewing posted a 9.850 for her routine. Freshman Garvey secured the second-place title in the first session with her score of 9.875 – tying for 7th place overall. The team finished the final event with a 48.400 and a 194.225 overall.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will find out if they qualified for regionals during the NCAA gymnastics show Monday, March 20. The NCAA Regional Championship will take place March 30 – April 2.
