
Panthers Awarded Weekly EAGL Honors for the Fourth Time this Season

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team has claimed two weekly awards for the second consecutive week and fourth week total this season, announced by the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Wednesday morning.
Sophomore Hallie Copperwheat has been named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the third consecutive time. Freshman Reyna Garvey secured Co-Rookie of the Week – her second weekly honor of her career.
At the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia, Copperwheat tied for the first place title on both beam and floor with her scores of 9.925 and 9.875, respectively. This beam routine secured her a new career-high score. The Leighton Buzzard, England native also claimed the all-around first-place title with her performances on Friday night - earning a 39.400. During the second meet of the weekend at Denver, Copperwheat competed in the all-around and tied for third-place overall.
Copperwheat is the second gymnast in program history to win this award three consecutive times and third to win it a total of three times in one season.
Garvey was awarded Co-Rookie of the week for her performance at both the WVU, and Denver meets this past weekend. The Pittsburgh, PA native tied for first place on beam with Copperwheat – earning a 9.925 at Friday's Backyard Brawl. Her contribution to the bars rotation against WVU helped the team match the program history score – 49.400. Garvey competed in the all-around during both meets this weekend – securing the second and third-place title at WVU and Denver, respectively.
This is Garvey's second time securing Rookie of the Week this season.
